I think it is. Rome should be a lot of fun for $2.50 and I'll probably pick up Napoleon or Empire. One thing though is they'll drop the price on Medieval too. So purchase whichever time period is the most interesting to you.

Nice deal but I'll wait for an Alexander's discount.

Yes its one of the best games of 2000+ and everybody who like strategy just a little bit should own it.
Alexander expansion is not necessary though as it is not all that great imo.
The gold version got what you need ;).
And there is a tons of mods for the game and a community very much alive.
Makes the game look better and feel much bigger and up to date.
The mods usually needs what you get in the gold version as alexander didnt bring anything new to the table.

What I really like about Rome is the amount of varied units and not just a set of standard units copied to every faction like pretty much every single TW game these days.
Rome probably lasted me 2 years just for that. You play with different tactics depending on your faction since not all factions share the same units.
To me it's still the best TW game ever made.

It is absolutely worth that price. It was worth $50 when I bought it when it came out, and it still is.

To be honest ? I think RTW is still the best TW game out there.
It's worth it.
