I want to get into CoDs on PC, but they're quite expensive. Do they ever go on sale like other games? 30$ or so for Black Ops/MW2 would be great.

No, they don't. Don't bother with those games either, they're horrible.

Only time i can remember a COD game being on sale was MW2 for 50% off in the christmas sale......that's it. So no, pretty rare to see one on sale.

I would very much take this advice. The only fun parts about COD games are the campaigns which are relatively short anyway (can be beaten in 1-2 hours on easiest difficulty | 6-7 hours on hardest difficulty). You probably don't want to be bothered to pay $60 for a game that is more or less a $30 game.

The COD campaigns aren't nearly as fun as the Condition Zero campaigns.

Oh now you're just being silly :D
Go get BF2 instead. The SP is very nicely done imho.

COD games are really fun, but then you are all probably young'ins
COD 1 + 2 were on sale about 2-3 years ago.
MW 1 + MW 2 were one or two times on sale.
COD World at War was at least two times on sale.
COD Black Ops was never on sale on Steam.

as far as I know, I thought MW2 was on sale twice during weekends. One or both had the multiplayer open to try for free. CoD4 was on sale for once. WaW had a sale. And a pack with all games upto CoD4 or WaW was on sale once. In around the last 1,5 years. Black Ops never had a sale ^^ and the sales never had a big pricedrop.

There has been sales, and they were very good sales as well.
33% off on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/news/4456/)
50% off on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Map Packs (http://store.steampowered.com/news/4432/)
And during the Summer sale, there was a Call of Duty pack with; Call Of Duty, Call Of Duty: United Offensive, Call Of Duty 2, Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call Of Duty: World At War, 76% off.
I own all the Call of Duty's and have thoroughly enjoyed them all.
Call of Duty 1 through to World at War were great, their campaigns took me about 7-9 hours to complete, but Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops took me less than 4 hours, the story's were great but they were just too short, while the older ones were epic especially Modern Warfare 1.

Battlefield 2 does have singleplayer.
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_2
The single player features missions that involve clashes between US Marines, China and the fictional Middle Eastern Coalition.

It's just fighting bots in multiplayer maps. There's no true campaign or story.
Have you never played BF2?

I dunno where the earlier posters are getting their info from, but CoD games do go on sale, just infrequently.
I'm pretty sure MW2 was £20 (50% off) over christmas, for a start. I remember hearing about "CoD War Chest" which had a bunch of CoD games for a reasonable(-ish) price.
Just stick around. Who knows what the summer sale beholds... 8)
I think of buying Call of Duty 1. I played CoD2, World At War, MW1, MW2, but I never tried the first one. Do you think it's fun by today standards?

I bought the warchest thing; CoD, CoD:UO, CoD2. Possibly one of my best purchases on Steam :p
I owned CoD2 and CoD beforehand, but wanted a Steam copy. I don't regret it at all :D:D:D
CoD2 is by far the best CoD game (multiplayer-wise, especially). I'm currently playing a bit of CoD1 because my heatsink broke on my graphics card, so I have to play on my laptop (it's not very good). I can get 30fps on CoD1; but it's awesome going through the campaign again.

I disagree, I think COD 1 was definitely the best out there, took more skill than Counter Strike 1 in multiplayer, and it was far better

Though, call of duty was good for its time, playing it now would just be strange. Anything after call of duty 2 should not bear the name of call of duty, because the newer games are not remotely like the original.
It's not worth buying any series of call of duty at this point.

Unfortunately, the Warchest thing isn't available in my country :( This is a awesome deal by the way - 30 Dollars for three games. Damn it. Maybe it is giftable to a country where it is not available ...

You might of well have asked Does Bobby Kotick not want money?
Every time an Activision product receives a discount he has to muster all his might not to go into a rage about not having enough money to fill up his swimming pool.

Outside of Christmas, CoD4 had a few sales, one was 33%, one was 40% and there may have been another more recent one. CoD:WaW has had several sales at 50% off. MW2 had two sales, one was 15% off and the other was $10 off.

Well, CoD2 seems like a remake of CoD1 with better graphics and some extra maps/features. They're pretty similar, which made them GOOD.
I totally agree that the new ones should not be called Call of Duty. I could just about put up with CoD4, it wasn't a bad game. After getting Black Ops though, I'm vowing to stop buying the series until they start putting some effort in again..

The only sale I remember for MW2 was one the one that brought it down to the normal $50 price. I picked up MW1 on sale for under $10 but it wasn't worth even that imo. As I don't play MP and the SP is far too short and generic. I agree Condition Zero is more fun.:p:D If you just have to have it, I'd suggest checking out retail stores where you might fins a copy cheap, might. Thats is if they even carry PC games.

See while COD goes on sale infrequently, Condition Zero never goes on sale. It's clearly a much better value.

I have to agree with this. MW2 should be selling for a fraction of what it cost already.
Blops? Good luck with it.

Back in summer they had a sale for CoD 1, 2, 4, and 5, plus United Offensive for only 30 dollars. MW2 was also 30 during Christmas sale.
So, maybe this year in Christmas Black Ops will go on sale. Who knows?

They have had small sales in the past, but they were nothing compared to the sales of other mainstream games. I think the CoD franchises success has caused the developers to become greedy, and attempt to milk out as much cash as the fad will allow.
'Why have a sale when a majority will buy it full price?'
