View Full Version : Wrongful VAC Ban From MW2

I was VAC banned from Modern Warfare 2 just a day after playing a modded server due to the matchmaking system and find it very infuriating that steam will not prove that I have cheated and refuse to do anything about it after I sent four emails and got the same replay every time.
Any help is very appreciated.

VAC doesn't ban for playing in modded servers. Also bans are delayed for up to a month, so you were probably flagged a week or so before you got banned.

Valve technically doesn't even need a reason to ban you, the EULA says they can disable your account for whatever reason.

EULA is not the absolute power. Individual country laws go past it. However, banning people without no reason is kind of self-destructive so no one will do that. Valve did a mistake in the past and the people who got banned in MW2 got their bans lifted and got Left 4 Dead 2 free for their troubled mind about the ban.
In this case, there has been several reports that simply connecting to a modded server, will result in a ban due to server doing something to your client. For example giving you full level straight away. This is nothing the user can prevent, as they might not know which servers are modded or avoid them in the first place. It is unclear if this really happens or are these all reports just rumours so the bans would be lifted.

probably a triple Copy\Paste of the same thing , funny i was actually amongst the people that got banned in mw2 a while back , funny thing is i allready had l4d2 :) mw2 is full of hackers and modded lobbies , the VAC system is not perfect , so not everyone here is telling lies.

I got it for the single player, multi-player sucks.

thing is, you cant choose wether to connect to a modded server or not.
So any bans for a modded server shouldn't count as there is no server browser.
Unless you join a friend who is in one.

Bans and disabling are different.
Valve's EULA states, they can disable the account - which means no access to any games.
VAC banning is just stopping you from accessing secured servers. You can still join unprotected servers as that is all you will be allowed to join

While the EULA might not be the absolute, I seriously doubt there are any laws that would help in regards to a banning from a video game, regardless what country the user is from.
The courts would probably laugh at you for wasting their time.

Which is exactly why playing on a modded server DOESN'T get you banned.
EDIT: If you CREATE a modded server, then you will get banned, if you simply come across one and end up in it, you won't.

the free l4d2 was also kinda something to make them shut up.
notice how every thread that ended in an unban has been deleted? VALVe is so arrogant about VAC they remove evidence of VAC's (or their) screwups.

They are not doing a grand job, you can go to wiki to find information on it, which Valve could remove.

VAC didn't mess up the bans, it did what it was told to do. It was Valves update team that messed up by sending a DLL file that didn't have a signature on it. Result VAC banned all those people because if you edit a DLL file you get banned.
So please search about it, even Gabe told about it yet you people get it wrong every single time.

Valve usually let us Moderators deal with this section for the majority of the time and it's a section which is easily Moderated too.
Being in this section during that whole time about MW2 bans, we Moderators didn't even delete a single thread on the subject. We let them all be here and the only reason they are gone is because they went to page 2 or further. So they just got less attention than normal threads.
So how about not spreading lies about Valve and how they run things because covering up is something I've never seen them do.
