View Full Version : No, seriously, how much will DLC content cost?

Look, I haven't bought your game yet but I've been watching every gameplay video to hit youtube and I really WANT to have a reason to get this game, but like many people, the small number of maps and game modes is the key point preventing me so far.

I understand the pricing model you're going for here, with a low price to match the low amount of initial content, with plans for DLC, (I'm ASSUMING enough of which to add up to what you'd find in a more expensive game of the same sort) but the only way I (and many other people) are going to have confidence in the future value of the game is if we're given a vague idea of how much content you have planned and how much it is going to cost to get it all.

Give me a vague idea. Give me a range of numbers. Anything. So far the only specific mention of DLC I've found notice of is that there will be a pack of three new vehicles... and although I'm dying to find out what the "kitty with claws" will actually DO, I really have to question why we'd be getting new vehicle options before we see more maps. The current vehicle selection has a lot of flavor, but since there isn't a lot of difference between them in functionality, a pack of a few more flavors isn't going to seem worth it without more tracks and game-modes to enjoy.

i hate dlc!
im sick of developers releaseing half done games and then making us pay more
when i buy a game i expect it to be complete or receiveing FREE updates
if there is dlc then no buy for me
back in the good old days before dlc...ahhhh
how things have changed

i looked at the achivements, and they mention:

"Finish in 1st place in all 3 of the 'Mayhem Pack" so 3 more maps

and 4 cars not in the game

Exactly my situation. I just can't get myself to throw away seven bucks on a game that is in this status.

Hmph. Well, despite the continued disheartening total silence from the game's devs during this crucial first week... I went ahead and bought the game.

I feel like I just took a leap of faith here, though. On the plus side, the game LOOKS so gorgeous that I have a hard time believing they'll want to give up on it before releasing a respectable amount of content. On the other hand...

Do a quick search on the game in google or on youtube. You might notice that MOST OF THE RESULTS refer to PAM as "the FREE online game you have to play! Download here! [insert (don't) link to illegal torrent]"

The pirating situation is BAD and I see nothing being done to combat it, and while the piraters and piratees out there don't understand how the game development business works, I do: if there aren't enough people PAYING for the game, then support and future content for it will be discontinued in a heartbeat, and that's bad news for those of us who DID buy it legitimately.

Of course, that's part of the reason I went ahead and bought my copy despite the unsure future; I wanted to show the devs some support... also, if I may, I have a suggestion regarding the DLC content.

It's far too late to protect the game itself from pirating. Obviously. But, I'm sure someone could find a way to use the DLC content as an anti-pirating measure. Find a way to make the DLC ONLY function with legitimate copies of the game, and make it inexpensive as a reward to the people who actually bought the game itself. Ensure that all the people pirating the game will NEVER have more than three tracks, a couple game modes, and six vehicles, and then smugly ask them all how they're enjoying that demo they wanted so badly. ;)
