Suggestion: Hebrew Translation [Archive]

Hi,
I would like to translate steam to Hebrew because I noticed that all the words in steam are basic and i can translate everything fast, and because lots of my friends are little and dont know english very well so Hebrew will help them a lot !

Tell me how to proceed from here.

It's not simple as it looks. You must find some consistent teammates if you are willing to translate Steam and its services.

Well, the more the merrier. Do not underestimate this, localizing Steam and Valve's games is a lot of work. And without wanting to be a buzzkill, but at the moment it is quite unlikely that we will see support for Hebrew. It would require additional coding, since Hebrew is a right-to-left language, and I don't see that happening in the near future.

I've already petitioned for this, so if your suggestion goes through I'll join the translation team. :)

But honestly, ultio is right. It will require extra coding and more than the usual amount needed for right-to-left language support, since Steam uses a custom interface.

I used to work heavily on the old Steam Support Wiki. It's slightly discouraging to see all my work go to waste... :|

However, if needed, I will gladly work on translations again, given there is a solid group of other Hebrew translators. (last time it was pretty much just me and another guy)

P.S.: I don't see Hebrew under petitioned languages.

While I highly doubt Steam will be given the right-to-left code needed for this... If it will ever happen, I'll gladly help with translating.

(I won't USE it, yuck! But I'll help with making it.)
