Wondering if this game works on Windows 7 -64 Bit and in 1680x1050 wide screen resolution (no black bars)?

It runs fine for me on Windows 7 64-bit, but getting widescreen involves messing with the .ini files, and even then it's really buggy. Once the game hits a cutscene, it'll revert to a 4:3 display, because while the video files for cutscenes are in 640x360, the game automatically adds the black bars in. I had nothing but problems trying to fix it, and it would occasionally crash after a cutscene.

If you want to mess with the resolution manually, you can go to the game's Mydefault.ini file under Advent Rising's System folder and edit the values under "[WinDrv.WindowsClient]". I recommend playing in windowed mode and editing the WindowedViewport values.

Also, under default.ini, you can enable "widescreen=true" to remove the black bars, but that just stretches the image to cover the letterboxing so you're still left with a 4:3 resolution.

EDIT: I did a little fiddling around with combining these two, and it looks all right, but I might also recommend hitting "tab" and typing in "FOV 96" or with whatever number you see fit to make it easier to work with. You'll have to do that for each new level, though.

Also, under default.ini, you can enable "widescreen=true" to remove the black bars, but that just stretches the image to cover the letterboxing so you're still left with a 4:3 resolution.

So what you should do is let it stretch to a 4:3 resolution, and then use the drivers or monitor to stretch that to widescreen.

So if you have a 1080p monitor, set the game to 1440x1080, widescreen = true. You get a stretched image where everything is tall. Then configure your monitor or GPU drivers to stretch that to full screen, and you get your aspect correct view with no FOV tinkering needed.

Anyway, that's just a theory, but someone on widescreengaming forum does that (though with an FOV change as well)
