PLEASE READ AND HELP ME. I have 0 idea what to do......

Hello, so i finally got my GTX 570 SC Through UPS today, and i was dying to test it out, so i installed it, along with the drivers it came with, so i installed the drivers and it seems like it's working so i wanted to try it out on arma 2 thinking it's gonna dominate... i was wrong. i put everything on "very high" except terrain on normal and also visibility on 10000 (max). well.. i was jarateed at the results. average of 28 fps.... it starts with 42 fps then dips whenever theres smoke or other effects or AI. so i ran it through a stability test, and i freaked out because the results looked like poo...... here's an example --> --^----^^---U-^-^-^-^-^-^------, <-- couldn't provide a pic srry D:. anyways, do you see? it dips and goes up and then goes straight... so i cleared registry, and tried it, same thing. so i i asked people in another thread i made about this, they said it might be driver, so i installed old driver and sure enough it was good and stable in the test BUT, on arma.. i increased by 1 fps.. yes.. 1.. so now my average is 29 on very high. but then i noticed in the stability test... my cpu seems to go up and down alot.. especially core 1 and core 4. but i kinda ignored it. i put on homefront.. and i get 40 fps.. strange, it's engine isnt that hard on a GPU... well.. then i came here. i lost all hope.. i hate my computer.. everything good i get for it breaks and doesn;t work. but hey.. maybe its not broken.. maybe it's just OP being stupid and missing something.

MOBO: M4A89GTD PRO / USB 3.0
PSU: Antec truepower 750W 12+ Rail 80 Certified
RAM: 6GB DDR3 1333 MHZ (some weird unknown brand)
OS: Windows 7 home premium x64
GPU: Geforce GTX 570 Superclocked (EVGA) (Driver: 266.35)
CPU: AMD Phenom 2 1090t (3.3 Ghz)

My questions:

What's wrong with my CPU, why's it unstable and spikes up and down?

could my cpu being at 3.3 ghz affect gameplay alot?

why does my GTX run at such low FPS? even at normal/high it stutters

my cpu is stable now but now and then has some spikes, is that okay?

please answer all these questions.. i'm like dying over here

might be a CPU bottleneck. I have a GTX 560Ti and a 4 year old Core 2 Duo E6850 and it runs like crap - barely any improvement over my old 9600GT. i'm saving for a new CPU/mobo/ram now.

Seriously wait it out if you can the Nvidia drivers are rather bad at the moment specially with the newer card's..

It's not your CPU that much I can say..

The other ppl have the right IDEA (Bad_Motha) is on the right track with all his advice..

I'm no guru ether we all help and try our best to help ppl like your self...

The next lot of drivers should offer some improvement when released..
In the mean time turn the setting down a little to the FPS is acceptable..

AS for core's spiking it's not unusual for them to do that..
Different software will affect this in various ways..

What Anti virus software are you using?
Maybe you can turn off some startup program's to free up resources?

There is a new driver but according to the website it says it's just to support the new GTX 590. I haven't had chance to try it yet and see if works with other cards. Might want to try it. On NVIDIA site under drivers, select GeForce 500 series > GTX 590 and you'll see a newer 267.xx driver

I know it says 590 only, but try it and see.

BTW anything around a 30 FPS average on high or very high is ARMA2 is pretty freakin awesome if ask me considering what that means in terms of detail and such. The AA and HDR lighting on that engine can really kick a GPUs butt. And if it's only dipping down to around 20 - 30 FPS and you're getting spikes of 30 - 40+ is some areas, that is damn good FPS for that game. It does need a good CPU as well to handle alot of AI, which it has a ton of at pretty much any given time. If you want higher FPS though, play around with settings a little and tweak it. A few settings in there can be left on normal or medium and you most likely won't notice the visual differences. What can help alot is lowering the draw/view distance, which anything above 2000 is kinda pointless. Maybe put the AA on low or medium. And lower the post-processing, which really hits most systems pretty hard.

Forget about registry or temp file cleaning when comes to helping games, as that will do nothing.
Do a full disk defrag and that CAN help a little.

Not sure what you were expecting out of a single GTX 570. It's great but it's not superman. If you play around with settings in your games, I'm sure 60+ FPS shouldn't be too hard. But considering you get a solid 30+ FPS when these games are set to High or Very High, that is great TBO. 30 FPS is actually quite playable. Below this you may actually notice the lagg and such, but I played all way through A2 and OA @ around 20 - 25 FPS and considering how much AI and so forth is going on, I was surprised I was getting that much for a GTX 260

Also, make sure your DirectX Runtimes are updated.

BTW HomeFront as of now is VERY bugged and needs patch fixes badly.
Overall it's a fairly horrible game anyways TBO.
But once patches start coming out, hopefully both the in-game bugs and performance will be better.

Agreed with the nvidia drivers are crap. I just purchased a GTX 580 and I see artifacts after a few days of my comp staying on. I have done a google search and this is a very common problem for a lot of people with this card. I doubt its hardware considering how many people have this issue. In retrospect, I should have stayed with ATI and got the new 6990. I have never had issues with their drivers.

i dont think there is anything wrong with your PC
i heard the game is very demanding
things like setting such high view distance eat even the strongest computers for breakfast

found this benchmark: http://www.behardware.com/articles/811-10/report-nvidia-geforce-gtx-570.html
very high settings, "only" 2400m view distance, average 31/37/49 fps (8xAA/4xAA/No AA)

okay.. so on the last level of metro on very high settings everything maxed i get 120-150 fps, but on "tower" where theres lots of ai (ALOT) i get 35-80 fps depending where i look. (direct x 9)

I wouldn't say that's a problem..

How many case fan's and what direction are they pushing air?
