Developer Meet-Up and Beat-Down Weekend

So you think you can run over the competition as Logger or freeze them out of the winner circle as Nitro… well now’s your chance to prove it. Over Saturday and Sunday (March 26th and 27th) the developers from Steel Monkeys are taking on all challengers. They will be racing and causing mayhem against all comers in the first Developer Meet-Up and Beat-Down.

From 1:00pm EST to 8:00pm EST on Saturday and Sunday, the Steel Monkey’s developers will be hosting races and answering questions on the PAM forums. What was their inspiration? How did they come up with an RV with exploding flamingos? And most importantly, what updates are coming and what’s in this rumored DLC?

If that wasn’t enough, Steel Monkeys and Meridian4 want to give away prizes to the top ‘drivers’. Anyone who is able to finish in first place against one of the developers will be eligible to win prizes including single and 3-pack PAM keys to give to friends to prove your abilities and keys to the entire Meridian4 catalog of games.

I've managed to get first in two matches so far. I have a sneaking suspicion they were the only two matches that a dev probably wasn't present for. :I


Also, Beginner I totally would have beat you if my Scoop of Destiny actually worked. Instead of, you know, you popping free from it and taking no damage or ME exploding most of the times I used it. ;)

Everyone is good if he ride a Dreams) But I think that kaltenstoff is most skilled player. No... no I just raced Kaltenstoff. He doesn't know how to do ANYTHING but spam drops as Nitrogenius. If you manage to catch up to him he just drives off the road to keep from getting killed. The fact that playing like that can result in first place every time is just an example of all the things the devs need to fix... ... oh, wait, he IS one of the devs?

Also, Bondarenko I saw you respawn yourself directly on top of the power-up in front of me for an easy kill. Shaaaaaame. ;)


Addendum: Beginner I wasn't that impressed that time you were playing Logger but you kick ♥♥♥ with Scorch, man!

I should be using fraps to get some highlight reels of today. At one point I flew an outraaageous distance into the air and, utilizing a careful amount of boost, managed to nosedive directly onto the top of someone's car. As Cowboy. With the frontal weapon going. Then at another point I noticed gamedevingvar was right behind me with only a sliver of health left, so... I slammed on the breaks. The sound of him exploding against my back bumper was very satisfying. This is the sort of stuff that makes this game really fun.

It's just a big latency and there's nothing we can do. Most of players are from Europe... also devs from there.

It seems to be pretty much any ability that isn't a drop. No matter how bad the latency is, the drops always work, but I've had trouble with all of the other weapons.

Oh man, though, that one time you hit me with your scoop at the beginning of a match on Cold War Beach? Not only did it work (though I was still left with about 5% health. That's the trouble with the scoop, even when it does work.. though sometimes deploying the side weapon at the same time you grab someone with the scoop helps, because they'll just get tossed backwards into the fire) but my car must have rolled about fifty times. I was laughing, man. :)


Oh, another fun thing to try. The concrete jungle map, when going through that tunnel near the beginning? If someone places a drop in the way, try driving up the SIDE of the wall. You can actually drive up the wall, maybe even onto the ceiling, to go over drops without having to stop and wait (and get killed by the person behind you). Also it's the stylish thing to do. :D

You need to add free maps and charge for the new cars as dlc.If you ever charge for the maps you will divide the already small comunity this game has effectivly killing it.

In game and "lobby" chat would be nice.Leaderboards is meh for me but i'm sure there are ppl that like that sort of thing.

You should also add a way to change/randomize cars after a race and imo this is really important.

I hope you will do similar events (doesnt matter if it has prizes or not for me) to keep the game alive

Today, we're thrilled to announced that we will be releasing our very first DLC pack 1...Free!

We want to thank all the players that have bought our game and we're going to beef up the game with more content.

In the DLC number 1, you'll get three more cars and another map. We should have it ready for you around the 15th or April.

Meanwhile between now and then, we are going to continue to make the game better with updates.

We'll make a proper announcement so you can see. We love the humor with the new vehicles, but then we just like to laugh at ourselves anyways.
