This is the best comparison screenshot I've seen so far. Gramma/Brightness and player position are finely adjusted so you get to see the differences very easily.

The overall feeling is the same on PC and consoles. It's the details the console version generally lacks. For instance, LOD and shadow res are much lower on console, especially in far distance.

Furthermore, the console version doesn't seem to have global illumination functioning at all. Aside from future DX11, this is another exclusive tech we have, which few people have been mentioning.

Consoles = Looks blurry

That's the real difference I can notice. Might just be lower textures but it looks blurry.

Here is also a article analyzing it and a comparison video. The differences is less obvious on video, though.

My guess it's because it has to upscale a non-HD image to 1080p. Just try running Crysis 2 or Crysis Warhead at a non-native res. Will look incredibly blurry

There also seems to be a fair bit more Anti Aliasing on PC, granting smoother edges.

Anyone else LOL at how the consoles' locked frame rate makes their slow motion look choppy, while the PC version looks smooth? I guess that's another perk of being able to run the game at 60, 90, 120 (and up) FPS - slightly smoother game play and gorgeous slow-mo :]

Their comparison sucks, the still images captured on PC at 1980x1200 compared to PS3 and Xbox look much better. Running at 720p makes the game look blurry.

Nothing wrong with their comparison. Running the PC version at 1280x720 does not make it look blury, if that's what you mean.

The videos are captured with consoles running at native res and PC at 1280x720.

The still shots are captured from an upscaled console output (1920x1080) and a true native 1920x1080 on PC.

The videos serve to highlight two things. Firstly, even at 1280x720, the PC version looks better, suggesting higher resolution assets and that assets on consoles don't even take advantage of their maximum true resolution. Secondly it shows the difference between both console versions actually being natively rendered at sub HD. Both consoles outputs are upscaled to 1280x720, the PC is doing a native 1280x720, hence the exageration of bluriness.

Finally, the still 1920x1080 shots serve to further highlight the difference between console output and a true natively rendered 1920x1080 resolution.

If you want information on the precise differences between the console and PC implimentations of Cry Engine 3, then this PDF from CryTek themselves (http://crytek.com/assets/Crysis-2-Key-Rendering-Features.pdf) details much of it. Particularly some of the later pages in that document deal with some of the console and PC differences.

There are screenshots on other websites which show as much, however its video capture Id like to see however I can understand why they've not uploaded 1080p video comparisons.

This is what Im talking about however.

Side by side screen shot stills doesn't really tell the full story. Only way to see the difference is to hook all three systems to the same TV/Monitor and run all 3 games at the same time.

When you compare, you doesn't just look at graphics, you must also look at frame rates, smoothness, screen tearing, brightness etc.

I never had time to do a crysis 2 comparison on all three platforms. But I have done it with other games and demos on my HDTV and it always seems the PS3 version of games is the worst of the three.

It may be worth mentioning that these are both extreme graphics on PC, and Im not sure if the PS3 and Xbox produce native 720p ?

All the shots are downscaled. Get some comparison shots that fill up the 1920x1080 screen space, then you will see the difference very clearly, ie. pixel density.

I think it's funny how the console versions have the honeycomb border in intensive sections to help ease up the processing load.

My shots aren't downscaled above they're sections of 1080p with the 720p upscaled.

The writing on the sign is blurry, some details on the edge of the building are completely lost the trees lose the definition between leaves and the building in the background looks like a picture rather that being rendered in-game as it is.

OMG without actually reading the whole thread or post I know which is better by a mile lol of course PC wins hands down, what a daft posting in the first place no offense to the op but please there's no real comparison PC<-->Consoles lol PC wins all the time...

;)

P.S
I run the pc version on Hardcore with max 60FPS Can't see the Console matching that lol

Im grips with the game have nothing to do with graphics. To quote Clinton, "its the physics, stupid!"! Plus the SP is obviously not the main feature, but it is pretty bland, you have no control over your char during scripted events other than holding F to watch our pretty stuff fall down in the background. and SP has extremely, EXTREMELY limited replayablity. 2 maybe 3 playthroughs and best.

MP will be this games only saving grace. That or wanting to show it to friends..thats about it.
