Hi,
I'm finally going to install my quad core cpu this week!!:D but I'm still unsure of the M-flashing or if I need it?

My mainboard is http://eu.msi.com/product/mb/785GM-E51.html

Bios version is V2.11 A7596AMS (12082010)<-- not sure if it is relevant?

The CPU I'm installing is AMD PhenomII x4 955 BE C3

just wondering if anyone can help me or if they have advice, when they had done it. I looked at some youtube footage of people flashing but it gave me more questions than answers!

Thanks

According to the MSI HQ Forums (http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119375.0) they strongly recommend against using M-Flash due to reports that people have killed their boards using it. There's another tool they provide that you can use which worked OK for updating my own MSI mobo.

You need to have an empty USB flash drive (it doesn't have to be big), download the program, download the BIOS update, run the program and the on-screen instructions should be enough to get by. The USB drive will need to be formatted so make sure you don't have stuff on there.

Thank You

If they recommend that I don't flash would that my board won't boot or have a Bios post error about CPU compatibly?

Thanks Again

Edit: After using the tool I got it to find the USB drive on my Bios I haven't updated yet I will put the chip in before that.

Thanks you +rep
