The update that started downloading weighed in at ~625MB. Is this correct? I can't find a changelist or fixlist in the News.

So far I notice the ball has changed to a potato on the main menu.

700MB or so.

So far all I have see is as SpyroTheSpyro said, The Ball now is a potato on the main menu screen. In game though it's still a ball at least on my current game. I don't see how that could be a 700meg texture though.

Who knows what changed :)Are you implying that other changes have occurred beyond the menu screen? Do I need to start a new game to see these other changes or will they appear in my current game?

You aren't going to tell us are you?:p:D:D

So can we look forward to another 600MB update tomorrow when you revert all the changes?

This. Worst idea ever Valve. There are internet caps in Australia you know.

Not just Australia. :(

Maybe they were just trying to be funny? If you have internet caps and are that anal about it, turn off auto updating.

It's not being "anal", it's being "financially conscious". When those of us with caps exceed it due to frivolities like 600MB April Fool's jokes (which only seem to take effect in new games), we have to pay to get that cap temporarily extended. Yes, it was a fun idea, but maybe something a little less hefty would have been appropriate, like a 5-20MB joke that temporarily replaced all zombies' heads with 2D smiley faces or something.

Moreover, if we leave all auto-updates for all games turned off, we end up becoming "anal" about checking for updates for all our games, especially since some publishers don't add a News article about product updates. Ideally, said publishers would post a Product News article announcing a patch or update at least twenty four hours ahead of release.

Of course, all of this would be moot if Valve would just implement a damn scheduler for all downloads, including client and video driver updates (which are completely automatic, meaning that while I can initiate a manual check for updates, I can't stop automatic checks for updates via any option in the client's menu). They can do everything else with the client, but this seems to be the one thing that eludes their digital prowess.

Despite everything, The Ball is a great game, so please don't misconstrue my ranting as complaints against the game itself.

Couldn't have said it better and yes I agree with the 20MB thing.

I'm guessing the spud is no longer available now? I missed it completely. :(

Unless there was something else buried in the game itself that I haven't found it was just on the main menu screen. Instead of the Ball it's an Idaho spud.:D Just brought it up to check and it's still there. Probably will be until the potato sack sale is over.

This is all tying into Valve ARG 2.

The Potato Sack Pack reminded me I bought this game before, but hadn't played it yet.
I started, and finished, the game now, and the only thing I noticed is the title screen potato.
After watching the credits I got dropped to the title screen, and The Ball appeared as The Ball again, but only until I restarted the game.

I only played the first Challenge map a few times, but didn't manage to survive until the very end (yet).

Yes, they are challenging. Did you find everything in the campaign yet?;)

I don't remember exactly, but I found a few more than half of the secrets, because I got the "Explorer" Achievement before the end of the game.
I'm definitely going to try to earn all the Achievements for this game.

"Circus Clown" seems hard though, because I keep spinning on top of The Ball for some reason, so I can't just tap one single movement key to compensate for the rolling ball.
Maybe it's because of potato physics.

Potato physics, LOL:D:D:cool:

Per Pai-Long
For the Shotput, load the level with the Ape boss. There is a puzzle, where you need to guide the ball above you, on some kind of a rails. You can stand right under it, and punch it with all of your might
For the Circus Clown, load the last stage. In the beginning you will have this "car", and a pretty big room. Go to the side of the car, with the "ramp" thing at the back, pull the ball, release and jump on top of it. It is a bit tricky, but you'll get it eventually
Sorry for my rough explanation.I still have these two and a few other to complete but I have most everything else.
