Could there be damage indicators on the HUD to show that you're taking damage? Perhaps the bloody screen when being pounced by a raptor could be used.

We're going to re-implement some damage indicators that are a little more traditional. Technically, they are there (that's the bloody screen) but no one interprets it as actually indicating damage direction. FAIL.

So look for a more informative damage indicator in release, or perhaps in an update to the Beta.
