Im not going to buy this game without first trying it out, 20€ for a HL2 mod is a bit too much. The game is just DoD:S with dinosaurs, same maps, same weapons, everything...

That is incorrect!
This game has it's own maps, own weapons, own everything... But most important, it has a unique gameplay not comparable with DoDs, much more dinamic and fun IMO.

I own DoDs too, so i know what i'm talking about

Feels much more fast paced hl2 deathmatch/dinosaurs.

What are you talking about? Explain to me how that's greedy?

If anything, it's rather generous.

I agree. I will not buy a game like this without trying it first. It looks like an ambitious souce mod thats all.

see it as an investment in an indie studio. TBH what does $20 buy these days? If you get 10 hours game play out of it and nothing more then uv not done too bad have you?
wouldnt encourage a free weekend for at least a couple of months until autobalancing and other off putting issues have been rectified or u will put off more potential customers than you will attract

I bought the game, but I think it needs a demo or a free weekend. The game was pretty empty :( Alot of people expressing concern shelling out $20 for what looks like a polished beta.

Not speaking for myself, but I know enough people that have just € 20,- to spend on 'extras'. When you are in that position you do not buy something you cant try before you purchase it.
Better said, without very good reports on fora and very good reviews I wouldnt buy a game if it isnt say ~€12,- or less, and I can afford it.
Cause you have the money doesnt mean you just have to trow it away ;)

That said, the game does look like a lot of fun. Would be nice if they released a demo in some form.

The thing is that I have so many games (especially indie games as I cant get enough of them when they are on sale) that I doubt I will get to play this game much.

I just dont want to spend 20euro if I dont even know if I would like it.
20euro/150kroner just seems a lot to throw out the window. It can buy me a lot of beers :-).

Would also like some friends to play it with but I dont think none of them want to spend 20 either.

I own the game, but sadly it seems none of my friends are willing to buy it. Having some kind of freeweekend/demo would be nice.

Free weekend? right at first release?

Why not? Lead and Gold did it.

Honestly as much as i hear people complaining about the price thousands of people threw away the same amount of money on Killing Floor which was a pile of crap. If i wasn't preparing for Portal 2 i'd buy the game. I think a free weekend would boost sales, it helped Lead and Gold a lot, and because this game is source powered it'll have a way better dedicated server.

Im going to peep in here and quickly say killing floor is an awesome game and very well polished compared to the mod.

Well, that's not true at all. Killing Floor is a great game. The community is still active also and I doubt the same will be said for this game in 2-3 months. I was in the BETA and there was one server that all but one time I launched the game said 0/24.

We plan to have a demo version soon that will give people the opportunity to try out Dino D-Day for free before they purchase.

to be honest, Iv bought this... none of my mates are intrested at all, no matter how much I rave about it... to them its "£12 for a half-life 2 mod that looks awfull in vids" and to be honest I cant fault them... give me a free weekend and let people play.

with the amount of bugs that need to be fixed, a free weekend would be disastrous.

What?
you obviosly know nothing about KF, because if you did, you'd probably know it's by far the best coop game ever, with a very numerous and active community, thousands of maps and mods, and being updated with more content years later of its release.

Or maybe you tried it and found it too difficult, as many others that give up before they understand the game mechanics/tactics/survival basics.

I love DDD, and i really hope that gets close to what KF is! But at this point cant be compared.

IMO Killing floor is ok to say the least. Most of the time i get bad teams. Dino D-day is really nice. I have DoD:S and about 1558 hours in it but when i played DDD i fell in love with it. Much more action packed then DoD:s.

Free weekend? right at first release?

Free weekend would give everyone a chance to try the game for themselves and see if they want to buy it or not, it will also increase player count for the people who did buy it.
