resident evil 5 b lack bars problem

hello i have a problem with my widescreen moniotor i had to lower my screen res in resident evil 5 from 1600x900 tio 800x600 do to performance issues at the higher screen res so heres my problem when i lowered my screen res to 800x600 i noticed a black line on both the left and right side of the screen im using the steam version of the game how do i get rid of these black lines on both sides of the screen with out rasing my screen resolution if i raise my screen res above 800x600 i get max 20 frames per sec at 800x600 i get max 40 fps so help me out thanks

800x600 is going to put bars on the sides in pretty much any game because it is 4:3 aspect ratio and you are running the game on a widescreen monitor. would you rather it stretch out and distort the image to fit your screen?

and jeez if you can only get 20 fps when above 800x600 then upgrade or buy a better pc. this game is not very demanding at all on low settings and res so at least part of your pc is very very low end or outdated. it clearly sounds like your pc does not even meet the requirements to play RE 5.
