Dedicated Servers or Not

I would like to know if anyone has any news on the dedicated server issue? I know what John Carmack said but that was 2009 (according to Wikipedia) things have changed since then, like MW2 being a complete and utter failure on the PC (the rampant cheating is probably the biggest issue for the MP).

So is there any news? I can take it good or bad.

I remember Carmack saying that they are going to try something different, but it wasn't revealed what that meant.
