I've seen some people were kinda wild on the music from that E3 2010 teaser video for portal 2, trying to repost it as a few loopy pieces in to a soundtrack. I kinda like the techy and very analog synth oriented theme of the track.

So I'm kind of a sond ♥♥♥♥ and as valve fan I thought, why not try to recreate the thing from scratch with virtual analog synthesisers, plugins and some beats and a few glados samples ?

Well here it is, I'd think it's about 85-90% the real thing giving that the difference is that I constructed it into a small "song", some sounds are approximations of the real thing and and above all the melody is copyright of valve.

Hope you like it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmurUTIKQbU)

O.O

Wow.

This was really good. I didn't like how the main theme was a little quiet and the CHCHCHCH was very prominent, almost dorwning it out a little, but overall it was-

My only criticism is that the CHCHCHCHCH bit doesn't feel as dynamic as the original, but the attention to detail elsewhere is stunning. Great work!

Well I started it when it was "hip", but well I didn't really pushed to finish it because I have other things to do. It layed there for a few weeks, then I would work on it on some odd spare hours when I felt like it. That's why I was so slow.

Congratulations, you managed to yank me away from Pokemon White Version with this. This was spectacular! Probably the best version we'll get of this song until the game's music is ripped or the soundtrack is released.

awawawawawa.... it burns....

Very awesome. May take a piece of it and make it my new ringtone for a while. :)

I have to point out that the idea of the melody is valve stuff and not mine, I guess creating a ringtone of it wouldn't harm both of it: unless it hurts valve: then it hurts me in the process lol

Well it's not exactly perfect but it's the best one so far.

But without suitable rest periods it does sound like just a lot of noise at times.

When I'm working on it for the mp3 version I'll maybe extend the small break a bit more....

I rather like this piece. It's not 100% faithful but it doesn't need to be and, as a result, it winds up being the best remix of the trailer theme I've heard thus far. Is there a download link for the .mp3 by any chance?

CosmicD

I want to use the originale voice file for that "you monster" line if the game is released next week I'm working on the remix a bit to improve it and upload the mp3

Would you be interested in composing some music for my mod, Tier 3?

CosmicD

rightnow I'm busy with another portal mod, but if it's one or 2 pieces and you dont have a tight time frame I could try something if you know what you want.
