Will it grow back or no? Also, does this apply to other hairs in the body, too?

Edit: Root/follicle

Do you mean the root? I think the follicle is the name for the space in which a hair grows.

hair will always grow back, except after intensive procedures like elctrolysis....

waxing isn't permanent so yes, it grows back.

If you keep pulling your hair out, it eventually will stop growing back due to damage.

What about male pattern baldness?

You might say that it only happens to old people, but a friend of mine has been balding since he was 19. He's now 28 and looks like Jason Alexander playing George Castanza.

we were talking about pulling hairs out... not really talking about "natural" hair loss

Bald people still have hair on their heads. It's just small barely noticeable peach-fuzz-like hair.

My Dad was almost completely bald by the time he was 19

If you're going bald, you can often pull your hair out quite easily.

Are you saying you just grabbed a handful of hair and jerked it out?

Just ask a native American to scalp you.

I read once that some South American tribes have a coming of age ceremony which involves pulling out all the head hair

But then, it was an educational book I read at school, so I suppose it's just as likely the author just made it up to sound cool.

Tell that to people with circumcisions.

And even then, hair can still grow back. I had electrolysis a good 4 years ago and after a few years some of the hairs started to grow again.

I've heard there are grades of electrolysis. Most won't do a good job because, frankly, they want people to keep coming back. But I've heard that there are electrolysists who actually do do it right the first time and those hairs will never grow back (from post-menopausal female relatives who get paranoid about growing moustaches).
