No saves after area completion?

When does The Ball actually make a save? I assumed from the icon that it saved after area completion, but twice now when I've loaded my game it has taken me back about four areas.

I'm just playing the standard game, not the Portal level. Admittedly I hadn't played The Ball in a while but I'm sure it used to save after every area completion :confused:

I'm on Teotl 1 if it makes a difference.

You should see a save icon when it saves, usually multiple times per level. It seems to save after each major puzzle.

It has checkpoints and map load saves. It saves pretty regularly. Not as good as quicksave is but pretty decent for checkponts. Only 2 places I remember wishing there was a another save.

I see the icon (kinda looks like a disk, right?), but it doesn't seem to actually save anything. It's getting a bit frustrating :/

Does it absolutely never save? Does nothing shows up in the load menu?

Do you have your (My) Documents folder on a non standard location? Did you move it elsewhere?
