Ok, I know this is the solution, because I have fixed it before this same way.

My issue is that when the action starts getting heated, the game slows down considerably. Somewhere on this board there is a thread that talks about how Mirror's Edge forces itself to use the DirectX version it came with instead of seeking out the current version on the computer. By deleting some lines of code in a config file, the game is forced to seek out the most current version of DirectX. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Can anyone find that thread? I spent a good half hour looking for that thread and I can't find it.

Nearest I've seen to that is forcing to use the latest PhysX rather than the one that came with the game. Not sure about the DirectX problem.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you're running an ATI/AMD video card. Turn of PhysX in the video options and your problem will be solved.

Last time this happened, I was running an NVidia card, but yes, this time I am on a ATI card. Yeah, as much as it pains me, I guess it was the PhysX afterall. Turned it off, and the game runs fine. Although, I can notice a severe drop in special effects quality

If you're running Windows 7 & still have that nVidia card, pop it back in and check this out.
