When I had my campaign on my server linked in the mirror thing on l4dmaps it used this much bandwidth.

If the campaign is 100 MB rounded up adn there is roughly 1000 MB in a GB.

Then for every 1 GB is 10 downloads.

So only roughly 2000 downloads.
Imagine the campaigns on l4maps that have like hundred thousand downloads, Terabytes of bandwidth of no doubt.

Anyways just thought I'd post this to give an idea of what kind of bandwidth your looking at trying to host your campaign yourself. Defiantly couldn't be done on a shared hosting plan thats for sure.. ;)

I've been out of the loop for a while.

What campaign did you make Keldorn?

First of Precinct 84.. Dear Sir you got my Vote for map of the year...

Anyway just to push your thought a little further, think about the Traffic of the steamnetwork, with all the games and updates, do you think you could reach a point were you dont care about traffic and more about hits :D

and i bet after adding 1024mb for screensshots and youtube linkage steam is gonna expand alot more... so i guess you sir will soon upload your map into the steamcloud :D were we can get it + updating will be easier :)

Yes it is. Funny though that nobody ever mentioned the car from all the reviews. I guess that a 'valve quality' animated rescue vehicle is not that important to people playing this game. I should of put it on a func_train, would saved me from learning how to animated a model.. nah it was worth it. :P

Well yes I keep hearing people say its one of the best campaigns ever made. But the ratings certainly don't show it. But I think that may have to do with how I designed it, its a really hard campaign for casual players. I designed for hardcore l4d1 players who know what their doing. Like fighting a tank with hoard together. The events are actually very well designed if you know how to maneuver around a tank.. For example on the roofs in map 2 there is a table with static crate boxes stack on them. Which are meant for ducking cover for tank rocks. Near the door of the train there is a water tower which you can run around with the tank. If everything is done correctly the events are quite easy. I guess that the casual players just don't get how strategist. :D

I have to agree - Precinct 84 is my favorite custom campaign that I've played so far.

On the topic, I never really thought about how much bandwidth that would take! It makes me more understanding to L4DMaps request for money.

It's currently 9.1 on L4dmaps, that's pretty damn good if you ask me and well deserved too. It could even be higher though. It's without a doubt one of the best campaigns out there.
