This patch needs a patch [Help me]

So I got the patch lately and started playing.
At first I configured the settings around 30 times because the game massively lagged and flimmered. Then I got invisible characers. Next try flimmering characters. AI not working in the next try. After that the animatons refused to play. Next was a black screen with an interface. Another restart of the game and the textmessages were stuck and it was not possible to continue. Next try and the Game completly froze. Next 3 trys the game just crashed. Tried to play it in window mode after that but there the loading picture never disappeared, evne tho the menu was clickable and the game was playing. At least it sounded like that. Then I was stuck at a walking animation. Then invisible people again. Then crashed again. I kindy lost the will to try it again. This is unplayable for me. It worked just fine before the patch. I mean seriously, I started the games around 40 times and everytime another weird bug appears and everyone of those bugs makes the game unplayable.

Please fix it. I have never played it longer than the first 5 minutes of the game...

I have a 3 year old computer, and a 2 year old graphics card, the game stutters every once in a while for me and my computer was one of the more powerful builds back then.

Beyond that, I have had no serious bugs (a random crash here & there) that affect the game as you describe.

If you're having THAT much problems with it, you may just need a new computer/hardware. Indie titles are always risky with performance as well. These guys don't have the larger sized teams most of these AAA titles do; which means their games are not always perfectly optimized for a wide variety of hardware.

Also, as I stated I WAS getting Error messages. If anyone else is make sure to "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" in Steam under the games Properties. It cleared those right up for me.

(Right click name of game in Steam Library > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache)

Do you have a file in the directory called:

grotesquetactics.vscene
if yes, erase it! We had the same problem , thats why the patch was too late! :mad:

All files sucessfuly validated. I usually verify the files before I report any bugs so there is nothing wrong with my files. I also did not find the grotesquetactics.vscene file.

Can you rename the directory or erase the complete directory to install the whole game again? Maybe there are some local files in the directory that does the problem.

The tearing screens and the blackscreens seem to be gone. Some characters AI still seems to stop working every now and then. And some animations still don't play sometimes. And half of the characteres are invisible from time to time.
It is better then before but if it is possible to fix my invisible characters problem. It seems to be caused by the shadow settings.

EDIT: The characers started flimmering now... They are invisible then not. Changing very fast which is pretty annoying.
EDIT: Just figured it out. If I disable stencil shadows then it all works just fine.
Can you check what the problem is?

I also encounter extreme slowdowns since the game was released. I generally appreciate patches but was this patch tested for steamusers :eek:?

I experience the same problem plus the game just crashed when I started to some guy near East in Station Wish. Sent a report ;)
I really hope you get the screentoring etc fixed. The game is awesome but it is hard to play with all those problems.

EDIT: The talk to this guy thing is reproducable. I just noticed that that guy has no dialoge, but if he stands next to somebody that you are able to talk to the talk option appears on that guy. Talking to him crashes the game. So if you try to talk to a person with no dialoge it crashes. Why can I talk to them anyway?

Yeah, also encountered that issue, was a wounded knight or so and I saw him at the healer in station Wish.

yesterday i was messing with the graphic options to improove performance and messing with shadows and other effects caused invisible characters and terrieble tearing for me too.

I spent almost an hour to make them dissapear. Forcing V-sync from the control pannel with triple buffering seems to have solved my issues by now.

I could also force v-sync with the ati-tray tools. Great idea.

Did anybody of you find any other problems/bugs/suggestion.
It seems like they will have to make another patch anyway.

Thanks Poet for being so nice to us. Its rare that somebody of the devs actually helps the players at a forum, which is not even theirs. Thanks for that poet. :D

And Octe. Disable/Enable Stencil Shadows and tell us if anything changes.
