The potato sack skin is a flag - wasnt the offer vague?

I have been told by steam support that the only skin one will receive is the flag. That the co-op skin is skin is simply the flag of the game you played the most of.

I heard this from others, but I was not sure myself whether it was true. With this in mind wasnt the offer vague. Since it seemed to suggest something akin to the gamestop skins.

Yes, Valve made a boo boo on an advertisement promoting the potato pack on steam store page. It initially said skin, not too vague imo.

I bought the pack. First day Portal 2 was released, I was informed by the game that I had unlocked every item available. Next day, they were all gone.

Point is, I have no skin.

There have already been Valve reps on these Forums apologizing for the unclear presentation on this.

They claim it was not intentional (I believe them) and I give them props for coming out with a Mea Culpa quickly and honestly.

i got the defense grid flag. They indeed should have said something like "A special portal2 item will be given" instead of "skin"

Thinking you get a cool skin, but instead get a simpleton flag item lol.

oh wells, at least i received something ^_^ ... but doubtful, i would "buy" any of those (cosmetic) items. You should be able to collect them somehow (like in tf2)... Maybe an item reward if you complete the whole game again :p? Or certain achievements?

IDK. I like my Portal Pin for TF2 (not the Companion Cube pin, the other one).

Not sure I care about the skins, but the Ninja one looks good on Atlas....

I got the Cogs one.
I think it's the one that suits better a pair of robots.

Now P-Body has WCC stuff, and Atlas Cogs flag and Potato helm from TF2.

It's not like it changes anything, but they look nice in that.

Agreed, the offer was too specific, a skin is not equivalent to a flag anyone can pick up for less than a buck. They should give you flags for every potato sack game you played (or maybe got a potato in at least) and a bonus flag for all of them or something at least.

It wasn't vague, it was simply false advertisement. I really don't care what happened: if they said you get a skin, then they're legally obliged to give you a skin. An apology doesn't make up for it. I'm not trying to be greedy, but they also said it was exclusive. What? There's no way that's a miscommunication, that's just Valve trying to cover up for their laziness.

I agree that the offer was not vague at all. They specifically stated that you would get an exclusive skin for Portal 2 co-op with the purchase of the Potato Pack (or if you already had all of the games). They also stated that it was a limited-time offer, only available until Portal 2 released. Giving us flags for the game we played the most hardly seems fair, as those flags are not only EASILY obtainable, but not at all what was described.
I am not one to complain, and I love both Portal and the single player of Portal 2, but this isn't cool. I was hoping for a skin that made the bots look like potatoes, or at least something better than a flag.
(Side-Note: I still have not got my GameStop Rollcage DLC that I activated via Steam either. Maybe they are still working on these bonuses?)

What we were advertised: A "special skin", "only available until Portal 2's release".
What we got: A non-special flag, available after Portal 2's release.

Perhaps the most fitting term I've seen about this on the forum is "bait and switch". I don't see how an alleged apology can make up for it unless said apology also came with an offer to refund (and if so, please link).

It does kind of give the impression you will get a full body skin, if they can make the distinction between a hat and a skin then they should be able to clearly define that its a flag and not a skin that you get for buying the potato sack.

However, that said its a ♥♥♥♥ing awesome game and I dont really care for all the coop customisation anyways
