The new graphics look great and the unit models look much improved, the undead seem a little more badass :o I like it. Hopefully the gargoyle will have a new skin!

I'm curious if they changed the speed at which the AI takes their turn?

They should've gone back to hexagon system. It just looks like an expansion to Heroes 5 to me so far.

I apologize for hijacking but was wondering if others have received their beta key. if so, does anyone know the email address for whom I would contact?

Beta dates haven't been announced yet, you're better off checking on the ubisoft forums for Heroes VI.

Ai turns were horrendous, especially in multiplayer where the ai turns would take even longer (somehow) and often result in game freezing.

Also I was really into map making and am a fan of large maps, so when I saw you could make massive++ maps in the HoMM V editor I was stoked, until every map I made at one point or another would crash, eventually learning that despite there being a few maps and an editor option to make such large maps they would often hang during creation... let alone play.

edit: Another good idea in HoMM V was simultaneous turns. However I can't help but think the implementation was half hearted because with the given code, simultaneous turns didn't last very long, and the games started to last for up to a day with two or more human players between unreal AI turn length, laggy town entering and laggy world-interface when scrolled out on above average machines, etc and it all came out as kinda an incomplete, clunky feeling... Like when you eat a meal of something you love, but ate so much of it that now you feel groggy or something.

I think ghost play was created to give players something to do in between multiplayer turns, and to reward quicker turns during simultaneous play, but it felt more annoying and cheap rather than a good addition to the game, albeit was a great idea of solving an existing problem or complaint represented by turn based strategy play.

That said, I still loved the improvements of V on IV(which imo was the worst game in the series). I think 5 returned a little to the former glory of 3, which I think so far has had the best play of any HoMM game to date... and in 6 they're promising to carry on the flag from 3/5 so I'll give the crew the benefit of a doubt and try it out asap in expectations of a great game.
