You can still attach the game to your Steam account, whether you bought from Steam or not. I'm not sure if that's what your issue is, or if you just prefer to give your money to Valve and then EA. If I can find it cheaper elsewhere, that's where I'll go. I got it cheaper on Amazon this time.

Don't they agree on things beforehand .. I can understand certain retailers like amazon buying in bulk , then selling individual copies at a lower price.. But the mother company EA .. a representative has had a meeting with the valve people to agree on a price .. I can't imagine it otherwise ..

You can add ANY game to Steam. Go to your library, click on Add game in the lower left corner and then "add non-steam game."
You're welcome.

That's not what he means. Lot's of games released on Steam can't be used with the "Activate a Steam game" option. When you add it as a non-steam game, you miss out on various stats such as achievements, time played, and leaderboards. Darkspore has neither of these (except time played) so I guess it doesn't matter. Also, your friends won't know what you're playing and you don't get an image for the Grid.
You're welcome.

Are you sure about that? All available information still seems to indicate that purchases are still only download accessible for one year after purchase. Which kind of sucks raw sewage, considering that Steam and Direct2Drive offer unlimited lifetime download.

I've had a few games sitting on it for well over a year now without any problems. When I reinstalled EADM a few months ago I had forgotten I even owned them but there they are.

They really need to correct their documentation then, because it's still scaring off a lot of customers. Lifetime downloading is certainly a step in the right direction if they want to compete with the front-runners of digital distribution. I myself refuse to use it until such terms are clearly defined.
That said, the EA downloader is still rather unwieldy and not very appealing as a front end. In addition to that their web portal is horrendous compared to others. They really need to hire some people that know what they are doing if they want it to be attractive.

I'm 100% certain. EADL offers unlimited downloads just like anywhere else. My bad Company 2 has been there since release.
