Info:
This map is a re-make from the game SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs. I stopped playing the SOCOM franchise after the third installment came out, so I will be designing this map to match the original version of Desert Glory. However, I have been looking at pictures of the SOCOM: Confrontation version to get ideas on how to make the map look more up to date. As you can see, I am trying to put a lot of time and detail into everything. I recorded many videos of SOCOM back when I played it, which is what I have been using to try and judge dimensions of the map. I would like to be as accurate as possible, which means I am putting considerable effort into ensuring certain windows and other exploits "line up" as they were originally designed.

As you can see, the map still has a ways to go, but any constructive criticism or comments are appreciated.

I hope there are a few people on here that have played SOCOM before, because it seems that either nobody reads this forum or doesn't realize how awesome it is to play Desert Glory. Although it seems pointless, here is a quick update:

Once I get a basic layout of the terrain completed and close off the edges of the map, I will probably setup a small testing server for anyone that's interested.

I played Fireteam Bravo, if that counts. But CSS lacks the elements that make SOCOM so great, like real stealth, explosives, stuff like that. It would be interesting, if not directly from SOCOM, if you would put in some bomb sites.

I disagree. I think there is definitely a factor of stealth that comes into playing CS:S. There is no doubt that it is a different feeling than you got playing SOCOM, but it is there none-the-less. Honestly, CS:S is the closest thing I have ever found to the original SOCOMs, but I've always felt that the CS:S maps were too small to get the same kind of tactics that you had with SOCOM. By playing CS:S on a map like Desert Glory, I think it would definitely be close to the same feeling, although there are definitely aspects that are missing. Most importantly, I really wish I had the ability to prone at times, but besides that I think with the right environment, CS:S can come relatively close to recreating that SOCOM feeling.
