Major Glory

I'm currently playing the 2nd act, and so far I've had a blast. The combat is interesting (it makes me laugh every time I cause one of the terrorists to drown or get electrocuted :P ), Kate is lovable (although tbh I'm not sure about her accent... Is it slightly Scottish?) and even the platforming is done well.
Good graphics, cool water physics (I enjoy breaking every single window and wall on my way to cause the biggest floods possible :P) and nice effects (even though I can literally hear my GPU crying).
Experienced 2 bugs so far, one minor and one that made me restart the game.
The minor one was Kate twisting during a swim... Her back actually curled backwards, so she swam as though her back was broken (with her head close to her legs, from the rear :D). Made me laugh and didn't cause any damage.
The major one was when I opened a door, and Kate suddenly FUSED with it... It felt so mystical to BE a door for a short while :)
Just left the game (it was kinda frustrating, was after a hard fight), but will definitely return to it tomorrow.
Bottom line? Seems like it was worth the purchase. A jorb well done, Dark Energy.

At 75% off, this game is a steal.
Combat seems a little undercooked -- could stand a bit more punch and a different balancing scheme between the ammo types. I've encountered wonky camera issues a few times, once having the camera get stuck in a wall and forcing a restart, but such problems are by no means the norm.
The platforming is fun. I've found the story engaging so far. Voice acting is great, and some of the dialogue is pretty humorous. The graphics are awesome, especially the realistic water, and the levels are interesting. An Xbox 360 controller works flawlessly (I haven't tried keyboard+mouse). Running, swimming and shooting sequences are occasionally broken up by a waveform-based hacking mini-game, and it's a nice fit.
All in all, you can't go wrong at the current price.

Picked it up as well. 5.3 GB of content for 3$, looks like really nice graphic engine. And with lots of people saying the game is good. Was an easy purchase. :D

It's a steal at $3, but man that is a pretty fast and drastic price drop (less than 2 months). It worries me to see games drop so fast in price. Like Blade Kitten it dropped so fast and drastically in price, then the devs went out of business, it was a real shame :(.

It's only a temporary sale... It'll go back to its real price at the end of the sale period.

yeah but usually games will come in sales after like, 5 months, or even a year after a release.
or maybe in case of non-huge games, games which costs <$15 during release, will make the sales come a lot quicker.
just my opinion.

From the sounds of things, Dark Energy may be working on another game, so maybe they wanted to get their name out there to more people. The critic reviews were mediocre on average (though quite a few high marks), so maybe they though getting into the hands of more users would increase their user scores (since user feedback has been pretty good, it seems). In addition, with the PS3 version looming, word of mouth could spread to PS3 users as well.

It was worth it at full price at launch, so you are really getting a deal.

After 2.5 hours of playing yes! worth it.
- Smoothly but when i brake a window with floods everywhere my framerate drops like hell :(
- Realistic water, fire, lights and glow effects.
- Good camera control
- I love kate's as* XD
No bugs found until 3 act but..
* Kate swim too fast maybe with control key
* Pls change the crosshair !!! it's sooo ugly!

I can support the original poster's statements. I just purchased the game and have played only about 30 minutes thus far. I can tell you firsthand I already feel I've gotten my money's worth.
This game is a steal at 3 dollars... don't let any whining nitpicking forum trolls sway your decision to purchase, I know I didn't... and I'm happy too. For what you're paying, you're getting a lot in return.
P.S. I was really surprised at how well the voice acting was done - it really adds to the immersion of the game! I feel like I almost drowned each time she is choking on water to respond to the other guy on her headset.
Great job development team! Ty for the game!!

It's a great game. It's like being in some exciting action movie.
Good graphics and special effects. Voice acting is decent too.
I've been having a lot of fun playing it.
I'm glad I grabbed it during the sale. Fantastic deal. :)

I just wanted to let you know that this wonderful two-way communication made me buy the game. Thanks for talking to the community and collecting feedback, the game certainly has some issues but it isn't beyond repair and there is a pretty good game somewhere in there.

i agree with freibooter. DarkEnergy's many presence in the forums really convinced me to buy this. Great interaction with the players, it's a cool thing. usually when we post any issues we've encountered in a game in the game's thread, usually only the other forumers will answer it, rarely the devs themselves checked the forums.
Super great job DE. looking forward for your next projects.

It is a lot of fun.
(Win7 64-bit, no problems at all)
I'd sum it up as Tomb Raider meets SIN Episodes.

I really like the presence of the Devs. The feedback option in game is awesome, though I wish there was a way to post some specifics or having a scale beyond "good/bad", more like a 1-10 scale. That might give more accurate data and feedback on what areas to focus on improving and what areas might need a slight tweak, but mostly perfect.
At $3, I had a friend get this for sure and I am going to recommend it to a few other people before the sale is done. Even after the sale, I'll definitely recommend it in passing when the conversation arises.
Not many games are supported to this extent and I hope there are sequels and other games to come out from these devs. Simply knowing that the devs actually listen and respond to the players is a refreshing oasis in the desert of a profit mongering industry. You guys at Dark Energy have my gratitude and admiration!

I've read some complaints of frustrating difficulty in places in the game. I hope that's going to be addressed in the future updates. I'm tempted to grab this while it's so cheap but that concerns me. I don't mind a little challenge but frustration with frequent replays or reloads really saps the fun out of a game for me despite everything else about it being right.
That said, I'm wondering if this will run okay on a AMD Phenom II dual core with a Radeon HD5670 card? The system is Win7 64 bit with 4 gigs ram if that matters.

at the sale price you really can't go wrong. The sale price is worth it just to experience the water tech. Put the game on easy your first run so you can mess around and enjoy yourself.

One thing I was a bit dissapoint: the ending.
Does this mean we will have new, urm, episodes? The powers kicked in the final act and I didnt realy have a chance to play around with them (not counting the challange mode thingy, im saying SP wise). Not only that but the ending... bah. :P
Other than that: this game is in my top three-tag-indie-team: Amnesia, Minecraft and now Hydrophobia. Great job lads, and yes, not buying this at this low price is a crime.

Wow, glad I took the "chance" 2.50Euro is a steal for this game.
So far I love it.
Play with all maxed out, and it is like a hot knife through butter.

Seems it only crashes for occasional player. Possibly a RAM or video card memory issue? Post up a dxdiag so devs can get a better view of systems that have issues.

I got it last night and consider it worth the purchase price. There were a few control/camera issues, but it was fun overall. It only lasted about two hours, but at this price, it was still great. I might even go back and try the challenge room later.

At $3 this game is worth it. It's a very, very short game, but you're only paying $3 and I had fun for the 2 hours it took me to beat it. The sad thing is that this game is too heavily scripted that a second playthrough wouldn't have the same impact as the first. It was totally awesome when water comes rushing through an open door and you start running frantically to the end of the hall. The worst bit was the length and the fact that the effects of the power you get look pretty weird. Speaking of which, you only get the power for around 10-15 minutes D: which is pretty much a tease since you barely even get used to the controls and such by the time it's over. The developers really need to expand this game. Not with a few short episodes here and there, but with a pretty long campaign. This, sadly, just seemed like an extended tech demo more than a full game. I have to admit I would have been a little disappointed if I would have gotten it full price. Still, it's $3. You can't go wrong and this little game packs a whole lot of fun, tense moments the first time around. I say get it. Definitely.

For about £2.50 it's worth it :)
Theres a few things that let the game down though. Combat is way to dull tbh, it doesn't feel very involving or dynamic.
The water looks nice, but it's just to...soft. You can walk against a rush of water which would be impossible. It needs to be far more violent, heavy and faster moving.

I got around to playing it a bit. I just finished act 1 and I thought I would look at the forums for a moment. First of all the game looks very good, water and effects especially. My criticism is that there are far too many needless cut scenes, which really pull me out of the game. Most of these cut scenes could have easily just been in-game gameplay. Also I think the voice work is not great, especially Kate.

I found the game worth it for the price I paid which was naff all but as far as it goes as a game ...meh.
Graphically is good and the gameplay is ok but I had a problem with being led by the nose. Tomb Raider it aint.
Go to nav point do as instructed, shoot some mooks on the way or dodge obstacles etc etc. In short, if they put in auto pathing it would have played itself.
Even when to search for the cyphers was indicated by an on screen message which killed what little exploration there may have been.
As I said a graphically pleasing game that you didnt so much play as follow and on that point it would have been a massive disappointment if it had cost more.

I just beat the game, I enjoyed it a lot but I'm a little disappointed by the length. It would be pretty cool if there was a level editor to mess around with.
