The new HOI3 expansion

If I have the original HOI3 game and everything but I can only get the NEW expansion from a non-Steam source, will be compatible with the Steam original HOI3?

It should work just fine, as the steam .exe is the same as the retail/gamersgate/whatever .exe

Do note that if you are refering to For the Motherland you also need Semper Fi to play that one :P
