Favorite icons?

I'm a bit confused, are favorite icons only used to mark or find some specific dwarfs, or do they affect the dwarfs as well? I noticed there's ten icons and I don't really get what the difference is between some of them. If I mark a dwarf with the "bomb" icon, will it automatically search for dynamite to blow up?

They are just that - icons! They do not offer any advantages to the Dwarf, but rather makes it easier for you to find a specific one.

The main use of this is to teleport to certain Digger Dwarfs you've chosen as pioneers, or when you're powerlevling warriors (you can send specific warriors to Outposts by using favourite icons).

There is an entry in the Codex which explains this a bit more thoroughly!

Oh I didn't realise you could send warriors to different outposts. Thanks for your help!
