Version 2 has a lot of changes, 2 mini puzzles, and a lot of optimization. It's not any hard, just a little longer.

Yeah, I suck at lighting I'm thinking that I will try fix it up this weekend and maybe even add another chamber depending on how my idea works in the game.

I don't know why but I could not figure this map out. Every time I thought I had enough speed to bounce over the water I wouldn't ever make it.

The first thing I notice is that I'm now blinded by the sheer amount of light in this map. The second thing I notice is that I literally beat it in 2 minutes.

First complaint, don't give it such a bad filename. Make it something i can remember simply. I mean, sp_...
But it's no biggie. Eventually they will make a good system for custom maps most likely.

Second Lighting, I probably don't need to give examples, you know it, and i understand it's your first.

Third:Crouching, this is not a complaint. I forgot about crouching, this map taught me that again.This is spoiler because it is.

I don't mind the design, it's your first, there's potential, depending on how long it took to make of cause but you have learned to do this now.

I just think you need ideas really.

And you did manage one thing that many others didn't. This map don't show you by the hand. It may not be complex or hard. But it doesn't show what to do exactly, and it looks like there's several solutions. That hole on the side though? What's that for? You can just jump all the way down.

I didn't really intend on doing that, good job though for finding things I didn't even realize.

I'm actually redesigning it a little, or you could say a lot, there are will be two new puzzles(might be easier than the first). I'm going to work on the lighting a lot, should be a little easier now that I know some about instances. I'll probably get it out tomorrow afternoon.

Tried version 2. It's nice that the main chamber has multiple solutions.
I'm not a huge stickler for visual details/lighting/etc as much as I enjoy a good puzzle, so I appreciated this map in that regard.

A few small issues: The upward laser redirection might throw off a lot of novice Portal players. Also, I found that when the excursion funnel is in pull mode, if you let it pull you all the way to the funnel generator, you'll become stuck. I did find an escape out of this, but you have to ninja your way out; a good map doesn't let the player become trapped.

Also it wasn't clear what all the test elements did. It wasn't clear what the ceiling button did before pushing it. The blue/orange light trails leading from button to the door wouldve been good indicators to help with this. Same with the laser receptacle. It wasn't clear what it accomplished right away, until you stroll back to the main chamber. Perhaps a window or something showing the player what effect it had.

Overall, good job. I would play more of your maps. :)

I tried to think of a way to show that the mini puzzles activated the gels, but couldn't come up with anything. I'll take suggestions and try to implement them though.

That one, is it just me or is the glass on the right not properly set up? Anyway il try the map again, it looks good.
And I do love the lighting judging from the screenshots, looks great :D

What do you mean that the glass isn't setup properly?
