Hello everyone,
This could be a spoiler but I need some help. I'm in what I think is the final "Boss" battle. I have water powers. I keep shooting the energy bullets into the vents and raising a water mountain upto the giant robot but it doesn't seem to "kill" the robot. How do I defeat the robot?
(I thought when the seen began that I would have to shoot in the energy bullets and then raise the water to "short" out the robot while the vents were open but that seems to have little effect......except maybe getting me killed.....smile)
Any help would be appreaciated!

Yeah the people that say the boss battle is easy must be geniuses. I'm stuck as well can't get lined up on the vents to even shoot them without dying. Will try again later today was too tired last night and got frustrated.

I had a lot of trouble with it too (I even had to do it twice because the first time I finally succeeded, the game crashed during the final cutscene).
This is my strategy that worked (although actually doing it was a bit tricky and there are no checkpoints in between rounds so you have to do the entire thing in one shot) --
Run back and forth between the two pillars of cover near the entrance. If you run through the green light that catches the robot's attention and triggers an attack. When she does the reddish energy beam, that seems to cause the vents to open.
When the vents are open, you should have enough time to step out into the open and shoot the vents with the energy bullets. Depending how far into the fight you are, you may have to shoot both vents or only one of them. You'll know you got it when she turns red.
Use the hydropowers to raise one of the explosive barrels out of the water and throw it at her. The default controls are to press X and then hold the right mouse button to raise the water column, then move the mouse around until you catch a barrel and it rises up. Then move the mouse some more to try to get the barrel in front of the robot and press V to throw it at her. If you hit her, you'll get a cutscene where the robot gets damaged and backs off for a bit while human enemies come out to get you.
Kill all the human enemies in order to advance. Then the robot will reactivate and move back to the center while more enemies come out.
Keep the pillars between you and the robot to avoid getting shot while you kill all the human enemies (they do too much damage to ignore them).
After you got all the human enemies, then do like the first stage and run across the green light to catch the robot's attention and get it to fire the reddish energy beam.
Then repeat the entire process of shooting the vents, hitting it with a barrel, and killing all human enemies. Then there's a final third round of essentially the same thing again, after which you should get the final cutscene :)

Hello,
I'm impressed that you made it through the final scene (even twice!).
Question - Do you have to hit it with the exploding barrel while the vents are still open?
Question - The "V" key seems to throw the barrel randomly? Is there anyway to aim it? (Or does it throw the barrel stright ahead if the water tower is between you and the robot?
..................any other hints would be appreciated. I have tried 20 times.
Final question - Is there anyway to change the hardness level once you are in the game? Maybe if I reduced it to "easy", I could get through the screne?
Thanks for the help

Thanks :) It took me quite awhile to get past that section, so it was probably more stubbornness than skill :P
I just looked through the options and unfortunately I don't see an option to change the difficulty setting in the middle of the game.
Yes, you have to hit the robot with the barrel while the vents are still open. The robot just kind of sits there with red lights on it while the vents are open so that's your chance to hit it with the barrel.
I think pressing V simply throws the barrel straight forward (at least that's what it seemed to do for me). I had to line up the water column so that it was in between Kate and the robot. Then pressing V sent the barrel flying forward right into the robot.
I hope this helps :) I think it's a really annoying battle though, so if you still can't get past it then maybe it would be best to wait for a patch and see if they make the controls better.

Question - Do you have to hit it with the exploding barrel while the vents are still open?
You wait for one of the side vents to open, then shot it with electric ammunition, then the central main thing will open, that you blast with a barrel. It is not that difficulty to actually do, but the time to get the barrel into the proper position is really short and sometimes it won't fly high enough to actually hit. But for me at least it always flew straight away, thus it wasn't that hard to target the robot.
I thought when the seen began that I would have to shoot in the energy bullets and then raise the water to "short" out the robot while the vents were open
Yep, had the exactly same idea at first. The barrels are really not very obvious.

I have managed to kill the "robot" twice. (I really wish there was a few save spots.) The solders keep getting me between robot fights.....smile
Important--> It is important to position the water collumn between you and the robot with a barrel prior to pressing "V".
Thanks for all the help.

You need to damage the robot with a barrel three times, then the ending cutscene should automatically play.
However I saw a few people in another thread say that the robot disappeared after the second round of the battle so if that's what happened to you then it was a bug :(

You're welcome :)
For the soldiers after the second round of the battle, I found it helpful to retreat into the doorway near the entrance of the room. I couldn't take cover there for some reason, but it was enough to hide behind the left wall to keep the guys on the left from shooting me while I took out the guy on the right side. Then I inched forward until I could take out the first guy on the left. The second guy was hiding behind cover pretty close to the doorway so I had to wait for him to lean out so that I could kill him.
After that, the third round of the battle began so I ran back forward to the pillars to get out of the robot's line of sight while I killed the newly arrived soldiers. Once they are all dead, then dealing with the robot is just like the previous two times.

if throwing the barrel is too tricky try this. When you have it in the water column the barrel will float in front of your crosshair. So you can just move the barrel till it's close to the robot and shoot it with your gun.

Everyone - Thanks for the input. I could not have done it without direction.
I checked out the challenge room. The practice portion of this would have helped a lot. Unfortunately, it's not available untill you complete the game.
Again - thanks for all the help.
(PS - By the way, the cut scene following the destruction of the robot is weak.)
