For those Avast anti-virus users the latest update to Hydrophobia is causing a false positive alert and automatic file deletion.
Steps to fix:
Open up Avast
Go the the "Real Time shields" tab on the left
Choose "File System Shield" from the list
Click on the "Expert Settings" button
In the new window click on the "Exclusions" tab on the left
At the bottom of the list click the browse button
Brose to either "C:\Program Files\Steam" of "C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam" and check the box next to the Steam folder then press OK
Make sure there are 3 check marks to the left of the Steam location in the list
Press OK at the bottom and close out of Avast
To get your Hydrophobia files back:
In your Steam library right click on Hydrophobia and select properties
Chose the "Local Files" tab
Click on "Verify Integrity of game cache"
Steam will now download any missing files.
I reported the false positive to Steam so there should be a fix with one of the next Avast definition updates.
