ok ill explain my post a little.

what ive been observing the last few days its seems the steam server that Auths the game when your actively playing it drops your logons mid game.

now from many test ive seen.

my input. i think the servers are having database issues with peoples account details.

and heres a temp fix for you people.

your going to need 2 pcs or a very trusting friend.

Enable steam Guard.

sign into you steam on another pc and activated steam guard for that PC.

next

go back to your normal pc.

deleted the Steam Files NOT YOUR GAMES!!!!!

reinstall steam.

when you get to the logon page WAIT>>

goto your 2nd pc.

steam guard settings.

De Authorise all PC from the Guard menu.

go back to your 1st pc with the issues.

sign in.

Activated steam Guard again on that pc from the e-mail steam send.

click install for Black Ops unless its there.

it should check the files and fix a 8.4mb update.

this is a new Auth Key!!!!!

if your game is there already verified the files.

you will get the same update.

restart steam.

enjoy.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU>>>>

Inbox me and ill take alook over teamviewer at your port settings..

Enjoy

When Treyarch refuses to reply with an answer....

It is good to see that someone from CoD PC community takes up the challenge to find out what is going on and presents all with fix that can solve the problem.

I hope you don't mind but to keep all informed about a problem that gets ignored I posted your findings on our website.

Hmm Me and most of the people i know say "inbox me"

inbox has turned in to a verb now when direct / instant messaging is more the norm. In the era of email and on-demand (check your messages from time to time) messaging the inbox was the noun describing where your unread messages are waiting for you to read.

But since now most electronic communication is instant (you get notified immediately about an incoming message or you see the message immediately) inbox can be more of an exception.

Specifically inbox turns in to a verb with wider usage of Facebook where the more regular way of communicating is posting messages on somebody's wall, commenting on them or using the Facebook chat (instant messaging, or IM like in Yahoo IM, AOL IM, etc). So when users want to switch from these more popular methods to sending a message more like an email (send and wait for recipient to read and respond) they can request "inbox me" or notify - "I will inbox you".

Inbox-ing is also one of the methods of going in to a private, one-on-one, conversation where only the sender and recipient (unless others are addressed too) see the messages exchanged. In Facebook all friends, friends of friends or public (depending on privacy settings) can read a conversation carried out by wall posts and comments.

Person 1 on Facebook wall of Person2: Hey what's your cell phone number? I have a new phone and I do not have your number.
Person 2 commenting (responding) to wall post from Person 1: Inbox me, I do not want all my 4,699 Facebook friends to see my cellphone number.

so good luck.

did they say if they would include a fix for this in a future patch?

i ask because it certainly is a pain in the butt workaround.

i have two pc's here with steam installed and the same games are on both machines so i don't know if i want to deal with all this.

good work hunting this down, i have suspected since the beginning that this was a problem that both treyarch and steam need to coordinate. perhaps with this knowledge they will be able to get their acts together...
