View Full Version : Mideval II : Total War not starting

Hey guys i dont know if ur having this same problem, but whenever i start up the game the window pops up saying "game starting" and such, but then it goes away after like 1 second and nothing happens. I have my computer fully up to date with Windows XP SP3, NET framework 4, and all drivers are updated. What can i do to fix this problem???

I just finished DL game and when I click play, its shows the preparing to launch and it closes window. ...

I am having this same problem, i have reinstalled the game twice, i have tried several fixes i have read on the forums to no avail. I am on XP and I have updated DX and .NET Frameworks. I have verified the game files several times and nothing seems to work. It just will not start. If anyone knows a fix it will be much appreciated.

Yeah i keep having the same problem but with a twist. The game startup screen launches, no news feed appears but im like "ok weird..." so i click on Play, and then it says "Medival II has encountered a fatal error and must now close" and then i get the "Cannot connect to the news server" so....wtf??! Anyone have this problem and have you been able to fix it??? If not i want my money back STEAM!!

The launcher is linked to .net framework 1.1 which is not compatible with windows 7.
If you are running Vista or XP you can install it here. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26

If you are running Windows 7 the launcher will give errors but still should load the game.

You may also need these files if not already on your system...

I tried using Greycat's link, and I'm able to open the launcher. Unfortunately, the launcher doesn't fully load (many of the sections are blank), and I get this error message saying that no "Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback" can be found.

Any idea where I can get what it's asking for? Thanks.
