Tried the 1st Witcher, didn't love it, actually I only got 2-3 hours in, combat was not my style, loved the story and all else that came along. But this game looks big, fat, and sexy, im not gonna go wanking over some animated barmaid, that what redtube is for not project red. DA2 was one of the biggest dissapointments of my gaming life, hopefully this will make up for it, I'm assuming the worst part of this game will be the 17 gigs it eats up, that and the 4 hours of dl'ing. Don't know my point, but I'm like a giddy child this mern.

Can you tell me what this has to do with Metacritic?

I was just about to ask the same thing.

Did the OP just seriously use big, fat and sexy in the same sentence? Chubby-chaser am I right?
Anyways, the user scores are overwhelmingly good thus far. I've never seen such a high proportion of 10s ever. There is a single 0 however, but it is very obvious that it's a Bioware/EA employee. A lot of people are already claiming it to be GOTY even though that hasn't been released to the entire world. I'm cautiously excited for this.

I was actually expecting to see like 10 new metacritic reviews, thanks to this thread. SON I'M DISAPPOINT.

Well, it may be that some people are starting to spam Metacritic with User Scores of 10.

A bit stupid really.

Maybe so, but they aren't going to spam 10s for a game that is utter balls now are they? Especially since this is PC gamers we are talking about.

A lot of these reviews seem to be from people only having reviewed 1 or 2 games, The Witcher 2 and/or Dragon Age 2. You'd think all these devoted Witcher 2 fans would give the original Witcher a score on metacritic. It's no wonder the Bioware employee rated the Witcher 2 a 0/10 considering the obvious flattering these single game review accounts are making, it's to show how ridiculous user scores can get from something as simple as a bias. DA2 was just OK, 7-8/10, maybe the Witcher 2 IS better, but 10/10 is unlikely, maybe 8-9/10. There's just no way all of these people have finished the game already. None of the reviews really even talk about the game they just spam with high praise. How many accounts can a single person make on metacritic?

I half-pity those who left the Witcher after only playing the Castle level in the beginning or whatever. You missed the RPG event of the decade, and this is coming from someone who memorized every quest in Planescape: Torment.
Black Isle was the king, Bioware started to produce crap. CD Projekt Red is the new king. Don't look to Metacritic. Just play Witcher 1 or 2 for god's sake.

Metacritic needs to scrap the 0-10 user score scale. Just set it to 'i liked it' and 'i didn't like it' Far more sense than perfect 10's and 0's all the time.

How does this make more sense? A 0 is already an indicator of "I didn't like it" while a 10 is an indicator for "I liked it". Having all the other points gives the users the ability to provide middle of the road responses. It all averages anyways.

Because then it doesn't try to be something that appears more legitimate than it is :p
Metacritic scores are nerd rage-fests with no real use, so the scoring should be as 'professional' as a youtube video rating.

In effect, wouldn’t that be the same as rating a game either 0 or 10? One advantage of the current system: Readers can immediately throw out the top and bottom scores and concentrate on the remaining reviews.
Edit -- someone beat me to the same point.

That is true, but the amount of true reviews on metacritic makes the overall score worthless. Therefore just a thumb up and down system with reviews will result in less trolls (since it's not as fun with a binary system to bomb it) and the informative reviews will still be there.

Anyone who scores a 10 as a user review is not worth reading. Any game ANY game EVER has areas that do not work and can be critised.
So at the moment Meta just has abscure games mags and fan boyz who after 15 minutes of play want to be listed on MetaC

DA2 is a total disappointment for me as well, and after playing TW2 for a few hours now I can say that they are nothing alike. TW2 is what PC gamers have been waiting for in an RPG for a very long time, and it's an absolute masterpiece.
Unfortunately, it doesn't make up for DA2. If anything, it's just made me more upset with BioWare for making such a low quality game, when this relatively unknown company can come in and show that they actually care about their customers, and develop a game that reflects just that.
