The real time combat is what convinced me to pre-order. I never could get into the first Witcher because the combo clicking mini-game was way too boring. I imagine real time combat with blocks, and counters, and dodge rolls. Will this be for me? I won't be able to play it till I come back from vacation next week.

yeah lol... Second fight in the game took me about 5 tries to survive XD

You need be really calm and strike when you're 99% sure of not getting hit by someone else.

Anyways, I found the combat to be nice and fluid but you can't just rush into things.

yeah, i think i've gotten too much accustomed to the console-ish combat over the years.

I'm sure just like the first one, once you get it your timing gets better.

This game will ♥♥♥♥ you if you try mindless hack-n-slash (well, don't know about easy/light setting in difficulty). I love that though, have to actually think about what you are doing when fighting and not just mash buttons, really adds to the immersion factor.

So is there a block? Can you unlock awesome counters?

...which is a good thing. There are enough no-brain arcade games out there.

Yeah it is pretty smooth and flows along quite well. Making use of rolls helps a lot or at least its my most successful strategy so far when fighting groups. Smack em a couple of times roll out of the way and then back into the fray, rinse, repeat. Standing and fighting trying to block just gets you smacked about. Looking at the skill tree's things should improve once you pick up a few talents but so far its been fun just as it is.

Anyhow back into the game for me, coffee break over. I have a feeling this may be an all nighter :)

Honestly, I'm almost feeling like the game is playing itself when it comes to combat and hacking and slashing at my enemies.

I left click my enemies a few times then it feels like Geralt just takes off on his own and does his own thing attacking somebody nearby without my commanding him to.

The tutorial panels in the upper right corner of the screen that instruct what button or keys to press appear and then vanish in an instant to where I can't even read 3/4 of them, so I guess its to the manual I go, I kind of expected combat to be like TW1, but it feels very different to me.

Combat feels pretty good. The game is really dicking hard on normal though. Starting to get a bit easier after taking my time fighting. Some enemies just take way too long to kill though. Like 3 minutes of straight slashing something in the back for something that can 2-3 shot you.

As long as it is better than in part 1 I'm happy.

Considering how hard "Normal" is, I'd say suicidal lol
