Because 10 euro isn't 10 dollars.
And that is something devs can change on steam, but they chose not to.
I will get the game via alternative methods until this is resolved...

I'm with you on this one. They need to fix the price, that will get them a LOT more customers.

It's not about the money, it's about the principle.
Also, you sound like a 12 year old, so there is that.

3 euro is not difference in one game, but when you are buying 50th game, and you have to pay every time +20-40% of actual price in US...

So instead of really boycotting this game, you'll just steal yourself a copy.
If you wanna pirate it go ahead, trying to justify it is pathetic.

I'm also not buying this game. However, I won't pirate it either. I'll either wait on a sale that makes the price go down or wait for them to fix the price. =)
Release: 16th May 2011 - Genre: Action, Adventure, Indie, RPG
EUR € 9.99
USD $ 9.99 » EUR € 7.05 (-29.43%)
GBP £ 5.99 » EUR € 6.86 (-31.33%)
30% is a big difference ;)
//EDIT//
I'm currently playing like four different games right now, so I'll be satisfied even if I never get the game. I would enjoy trying it out though :)

I'd really love playing it, though ...

If they were selling the game for $50 I could see a boycott being valid for a 30% difference, but for a $10 game? The people complaining about it have probably wasted more than $5 of their time on the forums.

30% difference is HUGE. It does not matter what the amount is, the point is it is 30% more expensive for us than y'all. It would literally be cheaper for me to post money off to my mate in the states and have him gift me the game.

All I want to do is buy the game at the same price many people are getting it for now, to me that would be fair. I thought a little common sense would have provided that information but I guess I was mistaken.

Even Masthead Studios who is the makers of Earth Rise which I am pretty sure they are based in Europe charges $49.99 US and the same price in Euros for their game.
It's not Steam who does this, but every gaming company who sells game world wide. I am also pretty sure that Funcom is based in Europe and does the same thing.

I would have been happy to give this game $5 extra if I could... Would you like me to spot you the money? I honestly toss around that kind of fliff like a sultan, I'd be giving these devs a fiver and you wouldn't be restricting yourself from playing something amazing, everyone wins...

If you have that much money why don't you just gift a few copies to people who deserve em ;)
I appreciate the offer however for me it's not really about the money. It's more about the fact that they are charging Europeans 30% more money for the same exact product. I feel that it's wrong.

Blame your government's tax laws. This is why games get charged more in countries outside the US.
Publishers/developers wind up charging more in those countries to cover those regional law expenses.

Damned European commies! LOL
Glad the U.S. doesn't tax Internet purchases, though I'm sure that is likely an eventuality.

Feel for you mate. Good for you for taking a stand, hopefully more europeans follow suit!
Also people saying "Lol it's only $10! Whats up can't afford it you tramp?" are totally missing the point. It's not a matter of being able to afford something, we just don't like to be ripped off! I ain't gonna but a 1 penny sweet for 2p knowhatimsayin?

It's not just about one title, it's on the most Steam titles and it adds up quickly.

Durrr! Because the data has to be shipped over the atlantic ocean! HELLOOO?! Don't you know how far that is? Oh, it is FAR!
Takes a lot of effort to move data that far, thus the extra cost. Am I rite?

Once again, it's not STEAM ONLY. If you look at other gaming companies that let you buy directly through them, they also charge the same.
I provided two examples, both companies in Europe; Masthead Studios (Bulgaria) and Funcom (Netherlands?). They both charge the same price EU and $ for their titles straight off their website.
So put the Steam conspriacies aside. Most companies do this.

You know it's kind of ridiculous that you are essentially complaining about the American Dollar being so weak. Americans should be more upset than Europeans. With the economy so weak, $10 is likely worth more to most Americans than €10 or £6 is to most Europeans. I'd gladly have the situation in reverse because that would mean a stronger American dollar, and a less broken economy.

Epic Burn.
On topic, I like how he said that the dev's have the choice of putting the right currency, when they actually don't.
I paid 10 Euros for it and the game is worth every cent. It's amazing.

As an Australian I love it when devs don't change the prices. $60 or $70 per triple A title is wonderful since all the stores sell em for $100 to $120. (Though someone has noticed and has jacked up the price of Duke nukem and Brink to $80)

So even though American users will get that same $60-70 game for (usually) $49 its alright? Still love it?

It's like this in Australia. in the brink forums i saw Americans saying it costs 50 dollars but in Australia brink costs 90 dollars. its stupid because the Australian dollar is bloody higher or around the same as the American dollar at the moment. steam should fix these issues as i have chosen not to buy several games because of this.

Austrailia is paying nearly 80AUD(I think AUD is the Australian currency) for Witcher 2... This isn't the first game to do it and it wont be the last.
