View Full Version : Mobs seem to spawn too often.

I'm not to sure about the spawning logic of the game outside the fact that they all spawn offscreen, but it always seems like there is at least one slime attacking me in the daytime. The Zerg rush of monsters is fine at night, but during the day it seems like I'm wasting my time killing slimes instead of being able to mine or chop wood on the surface.
It might just be me though. Anyone else want to weigh in?

This isnt minecraft. If they want enemies to spawn often they will.
Spawning is fine, its half the fun of the game is killing stuff

If you don't like slimes (or anything for that matter) bothering you, build walls that they can't leap over.

I'm not suggesting it should be like minecraft. Its just every 2 seconds something else that wants me dead wonders on screen. I've built walls as well but when my FoV leaves the walled area one or two slimes will jump in.
It just seems like a tiny bit much is all. I'm fine with mobs in the day. That's fine. It just seems like a tad overkill.

Spawning in Singleplayer seems ok. I just wish enemies wouldn't spawn so close to you. If I clear an area, I wish I could at least count on it staying safe for a couple minutes.
Now in multiplayer (3 players) the spawning is insane. A constant onslaught of slimes isn't much fun, or any enemy type, for that matter. Because of this, the game lacks pacing when you're out exploring.

my only issue is TOO MANY SLIMES. When you don't have time to cut down a single tree because there is a literally never-ending stream of slimes coming towards you, it's too much.

I'm going to have to agree with this. The slimes are easy enough and there isn't much penalty in death but being constantly harassed, particularly while you're in water is a pain in the ♥♥♥.
I'd suggest increasing the damage every enemy deals by 50% and cutting down the spawn rate by either 30% or by applying a 2 minute spawn delay to areas you cleaned out. Increased damage would keep the difficulty and the need for teamwork up without the need for one guy to dig and the other to stand around swatting slimes. Oh and I'd really appreciate the non-spawning area for walls to be increased so I don't have to smack away the zombies at my door every five seconds.

I made a topic about the ridiculous spawn rates there. Feel free to voice your opinion in it too. Hopefully the devs will see it and realize that they've made low-level, 2-4 person multiplayer frustratingly difficult with their spawn rates.

It's not just the spawn rates either, its the fact that they know where you are all the time regardless of line of sight or anything. Once they exist, they come for you. :eek:
