I'm with you, brother! This is one of the few times when I am fully aware I am paying the full price - and loving it. Haters to the left, defeatists and inevitable illegal downloaders to the right, this is seriously a crucial purchase. I seriously wish I could buy the four-pack twice, but sadly my honor outnumbers my funds.

why? you pay 39.99 for 3 new characters??? are you kidding me?
and let me guess, you still have to purchase all the dlc costume packs. f-k that noise. Hell no... you might as well add those characters in for 99 cents per extra character. thats just straight up dumb.

No. What's "straight up dumb" is you actually believing what you're saying. Do you actually believe the Arcade Edition is simply the vanilla edition with the 4 new characters? PC never got the Super re-release, which essentially doubled the roster. The entire storyline was rewritten for them. There's entire re-balances for every single fighter. You don't have to buy costumes, they're entirely optional.
I've already seen another poster encourage piracy of the game. Now, there's massive idiots that apparently think that a doubled roster, massive balances, and entirely different story modes amounts to "3 characters." Seriously, I truly wish I could buy the game a 100 times just to show up all those misinformed idiots.

Ibuki+Makoto+Dudley+Juri+Dee Jay+Cody+Guy+Hakan+T. Hawk+Adon+Yun+Yang+Evil ryu+Oni = 3 new characters.

I can't help but feel the title is rather counter-intuitive especially for those of us who have bought their games on Steam in the past and supported them for buying those games.
I think I had SF4 pre-ordered, bought Lost Planet Extreme Edition, Devil May Cry 4 and neither of those really got much support. I'm also tired of hearing the washed out "piracy" issue since it's such a huge cop-out.
However, it's good to hear they are FINALLY giving more attention to the PC audience. My biggest issue is the fact they purposely leave out the PC users to avoid "piracy". Piracy has been going on for over 50 years, it won't go away so there is no point to ignore only one portion of the gaming community from it because it seems to be "most prevalent". In the end, people will pirate regardless but there is also a huge amount of people who support them anyways.
I kinda got distracted but my point is, rather than single out only one section of the gaming consumers, just show you actually care and support us as much as they do for consoles. That is where my issues comes in, those who'd rather not support us just to ignore the piracy issue altogether.

Capcom made us wait over a year for Super to finally come to the PC, then they charge a full $39.99 after all this time.

I for one will be getting this, although I am a casual player I do love beat-em-ups and the PC isnt to chocked up on them at the moment.
Doesnt look like we get Mortal Kombat so I am all for this from Capcom.
Really do hope they support us Pc gamers more in the future.
They did a cracking job on the early SSF version so this is down for the taking.

Honestly, we really don't need to buy the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game because thats a massive waste of time, effort and money in a battle that we as consumers have absolutely no place or consideration in. We did that for the release of Street Fighter IV and look where it got us?
If Capcom is too ♥♥♥♥ing stupid to look at the PC sales figures and not realize that we are a strong market (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03/01/pc-is-strong-pc-games-revenue-up-20/) with the highest profit to sale ratio than that's their own damn fault and there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it. In 2010 the PC Gaming market brought in $16.4 billion in revenue with an estimated growth to $24 billion by 2014.
If everyone who bought SSFIV bought 2 copies, then while being a very profitable venture for Capcom the data would be insignificant when compared to the number of "hits" on torrent sites, if they choose the rather ignorant view that 1 hit = 1 lost sale rather than taking into account that figure is comprised of:
People who could and would buy, but choose to steal.
People who could not afford the game at release, but will buy it on sale later on.
People who are demo'ing the game, like it and buy it.
People who are demo'ing the game, dislike it and won't buy it.
People who are downloading it because they can and have no real interest in the game.
And until they change their own business strategy to make those hits work for them as a potential sale rather than a hard line lost sale then there is nothing that we can do besides buy a copy for ourselves, play it, enjoy, tell our friends and hope that at some point, Capcom is going to stop treating the PC market like a manic depressive lover.
So I'm buying one copy for me, because I want this game and I have absolutely no doubt that regardless of how well Super Street Fighter IV sells, that Capcom is going to turn around in 6 months time with some bull♥♥♥♥ excuse as to why we can't have the latest DLC or title release for game X,Y or Z on the PC because of some idiot in an office who still thinks the market today runs the same way as it did in the 1980's.

You have obviously not played the game. Super adds not only a ton of characters, but new stages, returns the stage challenges, adds new rivalry scenes and dialogue and over all more of everything.
While people can upgrade on the consoles to the AE edition from Super via DLC as its only a handful of new things, Base IV to Super was a huge change.

10 characters, new balacing, new game modes, new music, new specials, new ultras, enhanced online modes, team online battle, spectator mode, replays for all matches, new stages, bonus stages.
Would have been a NICE patch.
If you think it's not worth ir, don't buy it. ;)
Besides, in the old times we had A TON of versions of SFII. Mostly with not even 10% of the upgrades we have with SSFIVAE. And you had to buy a whole new cartidge to play.

This is the AE (Arcade Edition)...
Who owns the Super version (on the console) can buy the AE via DLC for $15...
And... Full price for $40,00?? Are you kidding me? Look at the all newest releases, all these games is for sale for $50,00 even for $60.
I really can't understand all of these complaints, a lot of developers are abandoning the PC community, when they release something, it's a ♥♥♥♥in bugged port of the console version and asking for a ♥♥♥♥in "new full price" for $50-$60 (say thanks to MW2)...
And when a developer release a AAA game (the most played fighting game), with a awesome price and probably being a good port (a 8800gts can play the vanilla version at 1080p, 60fps and AA and AF on max) is this...

I'm quite tempted to get it, because I had a coupon and was able to get SSFIV for PS3 for 30 bucks. And what might really seal the deal is if I can play this against other people, without having to deal with GFWL, since they won't even let me sign up for some blasted reason.

I want to say I know Super adds a ton of stuff to the game. AE adds abit more.
But I bought SF4 on Steam. Capcom thanked that by saying PC gamers are pirates and we don't get you Super. After a year of fans pleading and begging on forums to Capcom we are finally getting the game, yet they expect us to pay more than Super+AE DLC usually costs on console.
It is just my opinion that after PC gamers had to practically BEG for it, wait over a year (enduring Ono's coy remarks), and be a year behind in the competitive scene, we should be shown a better price.
That and the 10% discount is a slap in the face. Literally. Dudley's hand-print is on my cheek.

Not entirely correct. Blazblue was released on the PC too. Bought it but haven't played it much. Very complicated game compared to SF4.
But I am with you. We need to give our support to keep developers and publishers interested in the PC.
I think that SSF4 AC will use SSA keys so pirates won't be able to play on-line this time around. Most of the guys on my friends list indicated that they would pirate it. Hopefully, they will be forced into buying.

great post!
i'll be buying SSFIV AE like i bought SF IV, and like i bought plenty of other triple A-titles.
However, some of the companies want to make us feel like we should be drop-down-on-our-knees-glorified they are 'generous' enough to release game for us. They try to turn around the traditional relationship between company and consumer when it comes to the PC platform so to squeeze every cent out of the good guys they possibly can.
Piracy stumps a bad dent into the market, but far from the crippling blow like they want us to believe prior to release. The reasons they are releasing SFIV and SSFIV AE and not SSFIV (a bit of an inbetween) probably has more to do with the demographic of the average PC gamer than with piracy. You can't look into their books, but the fact they are releasing this new game probably means we already 'proved' that their is plenty of lifeblood for fightinggames with the sales of SFIV.
All i'm saying, there is no reason to let Capcom make you feel guilty for being a PC gamer and purchasing more copies as a result. I'm superglad Capcom releases SSFIV AE, but they are a company bringing out a product trying to make a profit. I as a consumer will view their product as to wether it's worth my money based on its content alone and the service they provide in the future(patches, dlc, etc.). And that's how it should be imho.

Games that use ssa can not be played online by pirated. Dead Rising 2 and lost planet 2 use them and only buyers can play them. so sf4 ae will be huge succes on pc thanks to ssa because pirates will be forced to buy it to play online becausee fighting games with no online, is nothing
I really hope this will be successful. I want to see MvC3 next.

I liked SF IV but was disapointing to have no level for each character like the 90s one did. Would like to see Capcom to some remakes of some of their 1990s shoot em ups too imagine UN Squdran with todays PC graphics.

when sf4 was released 2 years ago my country(Greece) was also unsuported then so all i did was create a account using an uk email and i was able to play online. so for people who live in unsuported countries all they have to do is create an email using one of the supporting countries and then you will be able to play online and buy the game. or you can buy it from direct to drive(they have it avaliable worldwide or retail.

Not sure if I agree with this argument. There are probably a lot of annoyed SF4 PC owners that felt shafted at never getting SSF4, even though they fully supported the original SF4 on PC.
I was planning to get this to play with a couple friends who really only game on PC, but it remains to be seen how much they'll be into this game.
Oh and the AE DLC on consoles to "upgrade" SSF4 to Arcade Edition is coming.. June 7th, I think? And PC version of SSF4AE is coming late July? So PC buyers are still getting kinda shafted.
