When does the free 30 days start?

So I bought STO in the sale, figured I'd give it a shot for £2.37 but I was wondering when the free 30 days it comes with (or at least I think it comes with) activates? I haven't added the CD key to my STO account yet or added a subscription method so I'm assuming it will only activate when I do both of those things. I'd rather wait to start playing so I can get my full 30 days worth (assuming I want to play it for the full time) as it's the exam period and revising to do >.<.

It starts when you create a STO account and add your key to it.

You can wait as long as you want before making your account, if you want.

You're correct on both counts. You need to add the key to your account and input a payment method, but once your free 30 days is activated, you can delete your payment information and continue to play for the duration with no fear of being charged when it's up.
