I have Hunted downloaded and installed from D2D.

I have activated the game but it will not start. I have tried numerous times with admin priv. as well as uninstall and reinstall the game twice (after the original install).

After poking around my PC, I went to:

Documents/My Games/Hunted/DFGame/Logs

Inside the Logs folder there is a text document that reads:

Log: Log file open, 05/31/11 23:03:17
Log: ... running in INSTALLED mode
Critical: appError called: Couldn't locate '..\..\Engine\Config\BaseCompat.ini' which is required to run 'DF'
Critical: Windows GetLastError: The system cannot find the file specified. (2)
Log: === Critical error: ===
Couldn't locate '..\..\Engine\Config\BaseCompat.ini' which is required to run 'DF'

I have researched what this BaseCompat.ini is and it appears to be some type of file that tells the game if my hardware is compatible.

My machine more than meets system specs:

Asus R2E
i7 970
6GB Tri-channel
6970 2GB Crossfire Cat11.5b
W7 x64

The game was download in zip format. I extracted the .exe to look for the basecompat.ini and I cannot find it. Maybe it was never there..idk.

Even after three installs total, how is this file still missing??

Any advice on how to get this game working?
