View Full Version : SLI nonfunctional and artifacting/texture flickering

I just installed it and was setting the graphics options when I noticed my G15 hardware monitor running precision was showing that SLI isn't working. The menu has the in game characters animated against a backdrop so the cards should be loaded.
I'm getting like 30% on one card, and 2% on the other two so something is definitely not right.
There is a profile in the 275.27 drivers I'm using, and it has SLI compatibility bits set to 0x02402005.
Loaded up a new game to see what would happen and I'm getting 56% load on the first card, 9% on the other two cards, and black polygon artifacting/flickering. Something is definitely wrong in the drivers for this game.
Guess I am going to have to do some testing or wait until someone else finds the solution. The game is now in my backlog of games to complete, so I'm in no rush. Figured I would let others know.
EDIT: Updated info from posts below so you don't have to read the whole thread:
For testing purposes I disabled SLI and still get the black glitching. So it isn't sli related. I'll keep investigating.
Also the black glitching isn't textures. It looks like wireframe because I can see all the geometry when it flashes.
Ok the issue only happens when the in game option "World Detail" is set above Medium.
So the settings "High" and "Highest" cause this glitch.

Turn off sli. It's not needed.
Hey, I know you from the HardForum! It's me, WabeWalker!

Turn off sli. It's not needed.
Thanks but not a solution to the problem. No other games I own explicitly need sli turned off to run correctly. I will patiently await a proper solution to the problem without disabling an otherwise perfectly running system.
Edit Hello btw.

I'm running tri-sli (gtx580) and although I have the same thing with multi-gpu's (game only using one), I do not get any artifacting and have no issues playing with the beta drivers you referenced. Something else must be the issue.

If you start a new game skip the cinematic with ESC, and run around in a circle in the very first room where you have the torch you don't see any strange graphical glitches?

Funny you should mention that room, because I actually captured a screen while there. However, I do not remember any noticeable glitches (amusingly, I did run around in a circle while there also; must be a gamer thing (lol)).

On a GTX 480 sli setup, only one of my cards is being used - so SLI isn't working for me, but with one GTX 480 my frames must be well over a hundred. I'm guessing this is some kind of VRAM issue or something. Hate to say it, but your 280 is kind of old.

280's are not that old, and having 3 in tri sli is by no means a machine to sneeze at.

not old at all, this game should run on a single 295 with no issue, graphics are good but much if it is painted on and static so much of the games sexiness is really non-intensive. Really a single GTX295 can run UT3/Gears of war on max with no real problem and this game might only be slightly more intense than both.
I can run this game forcing max AA on my 580 at full with a frame rate that feels like its capped at 60 with vsync on.

I said kind of old. But he already knows this.

I have 2x GTX 580s in SLi and only one is used also. I am running the latest WHQL drivers. Maybe the betas would work. I wouldn't know. I've been burned by nVidia betas one time too many to mess with them anymore. There are 2 SLi profiles for it in the 3D settings but they look for executables named dfgame.exe and shippingpc-dfgame.exe. The exe in Steam is HUNTED.EXE so those profiles are not looking for the right exe. A custom profile would probably work.

Hmmm I'll have a look at the profile in inspector and see if it is pointing at the right executable.
And 280s are old, but are by no means down and out in this day and age. Performance wise I can smash the ♥♥♥♥ out of a single gtx 580, and come close to a 580sli in other cases. The only thing that I am really lacking is DX11 full features like tessellation. At this point though I haven't seen enough to warrant the upgrade.
Vram wise, I haven't had an issue with any games running at 1920x1080. If I was pushing higher resolutions in triple screen with lots of AA I'd be looking at issue, but that simply isn't the case.

hello wasteomind, don't listen to what they say, your gtx 280 is still a very good card able to run this game on max:), my sli of gtx 275 lightning can run this @ 1920x1200 with all settings on max.
I do also have some black artifacts/glitches like you. I still trying to find a way to get rid of it.

Yeah I don't care at all what they say. Anyone telling me tri-sli gtx 280 is outdated and possibly useless doesn't know enough about graphic performance or features to be offering help.

Hmm running this game with sli 580's and not having any graphics problems personally. About half way through chapter 2.

I found that on Gamefaqs and it looks to be working:D.
I played for about 10 minutes with that fix and couldn't see any glitches:D.
Go into Hunted and in the Main Menu, put all Graphics on highest.
Exit Game.
You need to edit the following in the DFEngine.ini, which is located here: (I have Windows 7 x64, so the path will be different for Windows XP Users!!!)
C:Users*username*DocumentsMy GamesHuntedDFGameConfig
Open DFEngine.ini and search for:
AllowD3D10=False
and replace it with:
AllowD3D10=True
Save changes

Drop textures down a bit, had a buddy have this issue got rid of the op's issue. 2nd game in as many times, I've dropped tex-rez down and I'll be damned if I can tell a difference.

The D3D10 fix won't work for me, unfortunately. But for some reason, any time I manually change the INI file and save it, it keeps reverting the in-game settings all back to medium when I load it back up. Weird.
And I don't get why the system requirements for this game are so bloated, I can run it at 1920x1200, all settings on highest, on my 8800M GTS, and it runs great. Minus the graphical artifacts, of course. :)

The D3D10 "trick" doesn't really work, well it sorta does only because messing about in the DFEngine.ini file under [SystemSettings] will reset various graphics options in the game. Setting "AllowD3D10=True" causes world detail to be reset to Low and of course this fixes the black line glitch. DX10 isn't supported by the game as stated by the devs; many UE3 games have this line in the .ini that doesn't do anything.

I don't understand the bloated requirements either. There are far more demanding games out there with lower system requirements, and this game runs very well (with max settings) on much, much older hardware than they're officially listing. Perhaps the developers were only looking to officially support a limited number of newer cards. That makes it easier to say "sorry, we don't support your hardware" if you run into a problem while playing the game on your 8800 (while still collecting the money for your purchase).

Ha, I have 2 GTX 280 HC in SLI and it still plays everygame out there at max. Use an SSD drive and OC your processor. The games today are designed around a console so no need to update cards yet.
This game is case and point, not made for pc but a console onboard chipset.

The thing that gets me the most is that they never released any kind of official system requirements before the game released. As long as they've been advertising it, you'd think they would have.

Sigh still no working solution? Wonder if they will ever patch this.
Guess it will still sit in my growing backlog of games to finish while I wait for a fix.
