Thanks to Sven he made Capcom understand, that this soloution would not work. And therefor he went all out for us that cried out. Capcom earns our respect. I hope you agree.

Indeed, the fact that they were defending such DRM was scary, absurd and utterly self defeatist. Add to the fact they were using the flawed piracy argument about how it was pirated to 'hell'. This despite it actually selling above capcom's expectations and them enjoying PC based success.
Anyway, this is back on my to buy list at launch but I'll be going the retail route. DRM free (if you account a offline GFW account as DRM free, which I do) and a good deal cheaper then the online version. I'll also tell all my friends to but it as well, (if only to get a better PC version of Tekken VS SF ;))
Keep the technically excellent PC games coming capcom, you have plenty of us willing to buy your games. :)

much respect has to go capcom. in the end they ARE a business and have to look out for what's in their business' best interest but decided to go against that and listen to their fans.

Actually, the draconian DRM generated a LOT of bad press.
Going back on that says "Hey! We listen to our fans!", so once that news drops they're likely better off than when they started. This is huge departure from Ubisoft, who absolutely refused to budge on the whole Assassin's Creed DRM debacle.
Besides, this roundabout way of updating the title through GFWL on Day 1 title update may skewer a lot of Day 0 piracy if hacker groups happened to get their hands on it a few days early.
While I still think the game is going to be pirated to all hell, regardless of what kind of DRM they have. I'm super grateful at their reversion to more traditional DRM. Being able to play offline adds (or in this case, returns) a lot of value to the product I'm paying good money for.

Capcom has a LOOOONG history of listening to their fans. I'm sure those who argued against this gave really valid, community and tourney based reasons as compared to those who are like "DRM IS G HEY!!!" It's silly. Anyone who visits SRK and/or Neogaf see a lot of well formulated points.
I only ever want Capcom to use DRM as they seem it appropriate with the understand why they do it. Sadly most of the people just see DRM and get their panties in a bunch for no good reason. There is a Legit reason to put DRM on SSFIV:AE considering the history of SFIV, so from my point of view I understood and accepted it. The 15 character seemed like an inconvenience to me but I'm online all the time anyway. They removed the limited with the Day 1 patch, so that's fine but that doesn't remove the DRM, so is it the idea DRM is being implemented or is it DRM as a whole?
So those who are against DRM, are you really AGAINST it or just how it's used? Because SSFIV:AE will still have DRM just implemented differently I believe.

I don't mind DRM. I mind DRM when it significantly reduces the functionality of a product for little/no gain.

Marcelo;
DRM in it of itself is not a bad thing. It's just that when it punishes legitimate customers is when it gets bad.
If it doesn't get in the way of a player's experience, like say Steamworks, then I say go for it. But when it can instal malware on your harddrive, I'm looking at you Starforce, that's where I draw the line.

A Dev that listens to us consumers is one that makes a consumer feel bad about obtaining a dodgy copy. I felt bad for the laptop owners or those that can't always game with a connection. They made a good move I was going to buy SFIV anyway but I could tell the DRM was gona half the sales. Bring it on Capcom I've got a SFIV arcade stick waiting for the rest of your games I want Carrier Airwing redone in 3D too :)

Weren't you two guys in the DRM apologist camp? And aren't you the only ones doing the whining?

Finally. Hopefully Capcom can remember this for the future - it shouldn't take an uproar on the internet large enough to worry your stockholders to treat your customers fairly. While I commend Capcom for coming around, I'm getting so bloody tired of this industry willing to amputate their entire arm to squash the (mostly harmless) gnat of piracy that lands on their fingertip.
Now, if they could only give GFWL the boot....

No. Look around the forums, and you'll find many people whining about various things.
