What is spell link?

edit:Gamefaqs forums says spell link is battle charging your teammate at the same time as them charging you. But playing with an AI I haven't succeeded. Apparently there's some sort of skull eye or something that appears to help you kill stuff if you do it right.

AFAIK this happens when you press and hold a 'battle spell' key (assigned to 1,2,3,4) or if the other char does it on you. The weapon spells do not have spell links.

The fire spell will make the skull orbiter, lightning will make arcs of electricity around the char. Not too sure what the sigil shows after spell link, nor am really certain how they specifically help.

I do think they can be somewhat of a disruption though. Particularly when the other char decides to spell link you while your char is trying to do specific thing as in the boss fights.
