Characters will not jump

Run into a problem trying to play the first indiana jones game.
In certain areas certain characters become unable to jump. When you press the jump key they do the animation to jump without actually leaving the ground.

Searching around I've seen a few people here and there with the same problem but no resolutions.

It is basically game breaking as it makes some sections more or less impossible to complete.

Last link suggests it only happens in Win7 (which I'm using). Surely there must be a better solution than installing XP? XP mode won't do it either due to the virtual video card not being for gaming.

This is an annoying one, and it took me a bit of time to find the solution. Hope this helps people.

Problem: Showstopper glitch in the level “Hunt For Sir Richard” in The Last Crusade. The boss battle will not progress after punching the boss on the island in the center of the map.

Cause: Spawn error. The boss boat is supposed to appear to take the boss off the center island, and continue fighting via boat. Instead, the boat encounters a glitch at the top left corner of the center island, and refuses to appear.

Solution: Force the boat to spawn elsewhere by placing objects in the original spawn point. This can be done by knocking down the red dinghy at the top left of the center island, and then driving both boats to the top left corner of the island, facing outward from the island. Then exit the boats, and swim to the handlebar at the south end of the island to fight the boss on the island itself. When the boss is punched a few times on the island, the new boss boat will appear at the top left of the island. Because the player boats are in the original spawn point, the boss boat will appear slightly farther away from the island, drive to the south end of the island, and pick up the boss. Then the boss battle will conclude by boat.
