I am about to cancel the preorder after playing the demo. This game doesnt deserve to be named as Dungeon siege but a final fantasy. Square enix and obsidiant doesnt seem to know what were the main aspects and selling points of dungeon siege series. . . . .
-Diablo Style hack'n'slasho_button_masho combat. Ds3 have none. The controls SCREAMS its a failed console port. Which is stupid because it is a PC GAME. It should be PC_game_PORTED_to_console not a console_game_with_failed_port_to_pc.
-Ability to play a "whatever" char, and build it "however you like" by changing skill cards however you like. Ds3 have none. Since "console pad" is too . . . . well its not a keyboard . . so u have a 9 total skills per class. Thats all.
-Lots of "strange subclasses" created by large number of skills that you can use/mix together based on your current "skill mastery lvl" DS3 have none. You have 9 skill total + some bonuses from talents, locked classes etc.
-Unique to RPGs "learning skill masteries by using skills from the respective mastery". In Ds3 u have none. 9 skills + 3 passive masteries . . (my opinion its only because "pad doesnt have enough buttons to use 30 different skills and change them on the fly)
-Diablo 2 clone. Ds3 is not. By all means it plays more like console version God of war with changed graphics. Fixed to character, " auto rotating" camera is equaly bad and annoying.
-and the most important thing that obsidian and square enix forgot . . . DUNGEON SIEGE is a PC SERIES. DS3 is not! Skills are made to be comfortably used on pad, camera is annoying like in GoW3 or Prince of persia, interface doesnt even have " classic diablo style inventory"! Its a typical FF'a'like INTERFACE! There is no "point and click to move", you cannot " click items on the floor to pick it up (of course because it would be annoying on pad), u even have to HOLD freaking mouse button to continue walking in a direction! If u attack something and then select with cursor another enemy behind u, your char will not attack it because you have to change the direction its facing with a freaking analog stick [or holding rmb in different direction]!
---
I am sorry but ds series are by all means confirmed dead to me. All unique functions of the series were killed by obsidian and square enix. I don't say its a bad game, I just say it has been final_fantasied and consolized far too much. I like FF, I like games like last remnant . . .. but their mechanics, camera, interface doesn't freaking FIT a diablo style PC game!
Of course there are some pluses too . . . i kinda like the gfx in overall, skill animations are kinda cute [but too few skills!] and if this game was called . . .mmmh for example Dungeon hunter 4 i would probably buy this game. . . but its not and iam not going to desecrate DS series by buying this [and playing with pad because this game has been not optimized at ALL for classic keyboard+mouse controls].
