I'v seen that some of you have the same problem as me: i live in "THE DAMN REST OF THE WORLD" and when i get to the Store from my Steam Client it says it will be out 14th June.

Who the ♥♥♥♥ do i have to kill? Already contacted Steam Support, i'm waiting for the response...

Who else got this same problem?

P.D: I hope to dear God that this is not a Joke, for i will burn 2K and Gearbox installations to the ground with Thermite (yes, and i will fly there, because a live in Argentina)

14 june here...

It's still hard to believe, but Duke Nukem Forever is coming out next month, on June 14 in the US, and a few days earlier on June 10 for the rest of the world.

Since when Brazil belongs to the US?
Duke Nukem Forever Pre-order (ROW) is the version on my steam log... so why is the Rest of the World copy is getting US release date?

I guess it's definetely a bug. I was testing relaunching Steam and reloading.. sometimes it gets 14th, others 9th and even both! ( http://i.imgur.com/073Kz.gif )

My best guess was Steam junkie interns spreading bugs, but maybe they're so **sed off they're getting after ROW this time that's the only thing they can do. Time will tell, hopefully for our good =)

EDIT/PS: for those who are bravely saying "I'll get'em if they dunt..." remember after all your purchases that notice "Release dates can be changed at anytime without notices"? Yep, it's legal and you accepted it.

So i sent back a reply with a link to this thread, and the other one from Gearbox forums, telling them that it's not just me, but some other guys as well. It just cannot be that everyone here is getting their locations fetched wrong.

I doubt it's steam that made this. I think the publishing company want to run some super highbudget ads in the US before the release. Maybe on some main channel or something and the channel decided the time 4 days after the release.

You're way off base. Traditionally, games, etc., have always released in the UK, etc., on a Friday while they release on a Tuesday in the US (and a Thursday in Japan, and so forth). 2K are simply sticking to this traditional model (even though it's terribly outdated now that games can be purchased digitally).

Steam has always been pathetic when it comes to clarity of pre-orders and release dates. For some reason a company as technically sound as Valve cannot list more than one automated date on their store front on the client or the website.

Yes I can see how that would be hard for a digital distribution company to do, what with them always counting their money we give them.

How about this though, I am in the UK, and could now walk to a shop and pick up the game since they have been open for 45 mins and trading. Yet I have to wait 14 hours to play my game on steam that I pre-ordered because they cannot comprehend the simple concepts of timezones or partition releases for different parts of the world.

Valve, you are a complete and utter joke! And do they even comment on the dissatisfaction of their customers? Hell no. I work in a shop facing customers every day. If our company had this kind of attitude of ignoring complaints we would be out of business a long time ago.

It's NOT steam's fault, I agree. But steam is the handcuffs devs and publisher's now use to shove craip like this down your throats. DLC, Euro=Dollar, rigid release date policy, regional locks, etc. You'll get it all.

Its not Steam or Gearbox/2K its all to do with the retail shops in your particular country.
Stores in the UK for example do their new releases of games and movies at 12:01 am on a Friday. Stores in the US have their release days at 12:01 on a Tuesday.
Because of this games get released on different days around the world as the retail stores demand it to be done this way and make sure that online merchants like Steam stick to this as well.

I would like to say this: You are a moron. Release dates are NOT steams choice for the most part. its the publishers. The only thing steam usually controls in the 10 AM pst "Ok you can play now" crap. Beyond that, its NOT THEIR CHOICE. and quite frankly, i would be far happier if idiot companies (EA IM LOOKING AT YOU) would only sell through Steam for Digital Releases.

Oh are you angry that I pointed out the truth? The word moron seems to be an important part of your vocabulary. At least I am getting my homonyms right, and English is not even my first language lol. Try to read up and improve your spelling before insulting other people about their opinions. It'll also help with your inferiority complex.

I didn't say I want any other launcher. I don't want any launcher or drm crap at all.

I neither said that steam or valve is responsible for this with the release dates. I said that Steam is a means to an end used by the devs and publishers these days to impose such BS as different launch dates, DRM, etc. But if you knew how to read you'd have gathered that much from my first message.

I don't want steamworks or ANY OTHER DRM EXTRA TOOLS for my games. So either stop supporting steamworks games or STOP COMPLAINING about different release dates. Seriously, it's in your own hands. So STOP complaining.

I live in a damn forgotten-by-god town, theres no retailers here. The ONLY way for me to access to original games is Steam or some other digital distribution system...

but the point is that big retail stores demand and control when films and games get released and make sure that Steam and other merchants stick to the retail release dates. The big stores have always complained about small corner retailers breaking the release dates that have been set and have even pushed the retail industry to start handing out fines to those stores that sell early.

Steam is no different to the stores apart from it being an electronic distributor and has to abide by the same retail guidelines

I'm ok with people who like steam. It's a good service, games are cheap and it's much better than anything Ubi or EA ever came up with.

Steamworks would be ok if we had the coice to use it on a voluntary basis. I don't like the way it is now with it being mandatory for so many AAA games released today. I want choice and be able to buy my games wherever I want and play them right after I bought them, not 5 days later.

You might be right as far as DRM goes but you are wrong as far as release dates go.

It is being used as you said to control release dates but not by the publishers etc. Its the big retail stores such as Walmart etc in the US and the equivalent stores in other parts of the world that control what day a game is allowed to be sold.

Games and movies in the US all get released on a Tuesday and in the UK for example get released on a Friday. This is something that the retail giants have set and demand that all stores stick too including online merchants. If stores dont stick to this the retail giants throw a hissy fit and demand that those stores that break the dates get fined.

What chances? It specifically said that REST OF THE WORLD would be OUT ON 9TH.

We didn't take any chances. And not just that, we bought the game, and the store said, until yesterday, it would be out in that date. Not prior, not later, that date.

We are not complaining just because, we are complaining that this happened yesterday, just one day apart from the official launch.

The LEAST they could do by now is go out and explain why the ♥♥♥♥ this happened. At least take the ♥♥♥♥ing responsability for the whole thing, to go out and say a bunch of words or something. I'm guessing some of you are new to Steam releases and don't realize it's not an instant thing when the timer reaches zero. In 7 years as a Steamer I have never seen a Steam game release exactly on time. Forget the damn countdown timer. It means nothing. It could unlock 10 minutes after the timer hits zero or 5 hours after and you won't get an explanation. Generally it's within a half hour of the posted time though from my experiances.

It could unlock 10 minutes after the timer hits zero or 5 hours after and you won't get an explanation. Generally it's within a half hour of the posted time though from my experiances.

We (or at least me) realize that. Actually the average unlock time for me was always around 5 hours past zero time. But 5 days is not the same as 5 hours...!

Seriously, WTF was that? I bought DNF yesterday when it said the game would be unlocked today, id never have bought it already if i knew the game would only be launched on 14th. I dont complain about game delays, i can live with that, but now its a different matter, i bought the game exactly the day BEFORE the release date, so i tought it wouldnt possibly change. Ive taken that long to buy it on pre order because i wanted to be exactly sure about which day id be able to play it. And theyve changed it exactly on the day it was supposed to be released. Thats REALLY unfair to their custommers who have already paid for the game.

And for me thatll be a big problem, i wont be able to play DNF next week, i work hard during all the week, and ill have to go on a business trip next weekend. If i knew that, i would certainly wait longer instead of getting it on pre order.

And i cant understand why, on my purchase history it clearly says i bought the ROW version. And as far as i know, Brazil isnt part of the US. Why not make it clear then? Say something like "America release date on 14th, rest of the world 10th". On the ad, it just said that the US release date would be 14th, it didnt mention South America. That was missleading and fooled a lot of custommers like me.

This was my first and will probably be my last pre order from Steam ever. Dont get me wrong, i wont go on a Steam flaming rage, i dont hate Steam, in fact i still love Steam and will keep buying games on their great deals, but ill never pre order again after this bad experience.

You have to wait.
A "friend" gifted me Fallout: New Vegas (UK) and I couldn't play it until our release date (Germany).

For me it says June 14th - Canada. I did see this though on Steam's RSS feed (doesn't look like anybody else quoted it although it was only posted 4 hours ago from the time I created this reply):
The King is Back! Duke Nukem Forever is now available in Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia. *Duke Nukem Forever will release in other regions soon, please see the store page for release times.

Put on your shades and step into the boots of Duke Nukem. The alien hordes are invading and only Duke can save the world. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses can’t stop this epic hero from accomplishing his goal: to save the world and save the babes!

*Game not available in all regions. Please see product page for availability.

Kind of ironic that Australia gets it first because usually games get released ridiculously late there. Ah well. 4 Days is pretty small compared to the 15 or so years waiting for this game. Plus I have Red Faction: Armageddon to finish first.

Yeah, they decided to give it to South America tonight but not to North America: http://forums.2kgames.com/showthread.php?108547-Need-Oficcial-response-from-2KGames-about-DELAY-on-Steam-for-South-American-users.

Street Date's broken, if you got a console. GO GET NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WAIT FOR THIS POOR SERVICE.

Mine unlocks in an hour, but still there's one fact that remains... fairness.

I know that we are already ♥♥♥♥ed, but if someone is going to ♥♥♥♥ me at least they could give me a good night and sleep well kiss.

Lol U mad. Wonder if you'll be this mad when VALVe anonces that they canceled Episode 3- oh wait they did.

Guess somebody doesnt know what April Fools Day is.

Read the date when they "Canceled" Ep3. also "some of the least anticipated titles like Half Life 2: Episode 3"

Considering Ep3 is probably among the most anticipated games in the last few years(not counting duke)... derp.

It's interesting, Doom 3 was released in NA long before it hit the shelves here in UK.

Some would argue that the ridiculous release dates of the past were the US received games earlier than pretty much anyone else is what pushed a lot of people to piracy.

I can see the same thing happening here with people that want to play Duke in NA but getting the royal shafting.
Hate to say it but perhaps you now know how us Europeans feel, or felt rather.

Regardless, it seems a little silly to have separate release dates when we have digital distribution, world wide simultaneous releases shouldn't be all that difficult.
