I hope this doesn't change the way companies view demos, but the demo of this game definitely turned me off from even thinking about buying it. It is a shame this game is slated for release, I think if the demo had come sooner they could have salvaged a lot out of it, but as it stands the demo did not entice, and I have little hope of any of the complaints I have about it being fixed (or even being fixable.)

game is 100% dungeon siege, in the way my Intel and my Doritos are both 100% chips

Agreed.

If not for the demo I'd have bought this game. Thank you for releasing it Obsidian.

I can't believe i made room for Witcher 2 and Assassin Creed, both games were so crap, i felt pity for the developers in thinking it was ready for release.

Dungeon Siege 3, however is pretty good, but like everyone should know, everyone has their own tastes.

The moment I heard they were making it for consoles first I knew it wasn't going to be anything like DS1 and DS2. Ever played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 on the PS2? Its completely different then the original PC game but its still a fun local co-op hack and slash. That's what they made DS3, it's designed for console to be a local co-op game were 2 people can play on one screen (sure it has online to but the mechanics had to fit local co-op if they wanted to have it), and I'm sure many are happy that they did because we need more local co-op games these days. I still kinda have to LOL at the people who were expecting DS3 to be like DS1 and DS2 which were made for PC. I loved DS1 and DS2, but I like this game to for what it is. The lore and the story is still very much Dungeon Siege even if the game-play has changed to fit on consoles (and then ported to PC).

Clearly, we all just thought up some magical things we wanted and it has nothing to do with what the developers (Obsidian) and Publishers (SQENIX) said it would be:

"For centuries legionnaires have protected the nation of Ehb until they were betrayed and all but driven to the brink of extinction. Now that evil has returned to Ehb the people turn to the few remaining Legionnaires for the protection of the past. As an heir to the legion will you accept this plea for help? How it will all be resolved is up to you!

Dungeon Siege III is an Action RPG that seamlessly blends intuitive fast-paced gameplay, a robust RPG system featuring a large selection of abilities, loot galore and the depth of story Square-Enix and Obsidian Entertainment are known for creating. Players will be able to adventure by themselves, on the couch with friends, or online in a fully multiplayer experience."

Would you describe BG: DA as the last paragraph? Now, take a look at the demo, would you describe THAT as the last paragraph?

Call this game Dungeon Seige: Jehne Kassindre and don't pretend it has any depth and nobody would be complaining.

Dungeon Siege III is an Action RPG that seamlessly blends intuitive fast-paced gameplay

Action role-playing games (abbreviated action RPG, action/RPG, or ARPG) form a loosely-defined sub-genre of role-playing video games that incorporate elements of action or action-adventure games, emphasizing real-time action that requires direct input from the player, instead of turn-based or menu-based combat. These games often use combat systems similar to hack and slash or shooter games.[1] Well it seems like an action RPG to me, Now is it fast-paced? Well if you don't attack block and roll like crazy the bosses will kill you pretty fast so I'd say it is, controls are also designed for fast access to your skills.

a robust RPG system featuring a large selection of abilities,

Here it is indeed lacking so they lose a point.

loot galore and the depth of story Square-Enix and Obsidian Entertainment are known for creating. I think the loots pretty good I find myself checking to compare stats constantly getting better items, the story is also good, people that have only played the demo haven't even seen the full depth of the story. All the lore and character backgrounds are nice to its at least more then the 1st 2 games. I wont spoil it to much but some of the characters/bloodlines connect all the way to the characters from DS1.

Players will be able to adventure by themselves, on the couch with friends, or online in a fully multiplayer experience. DS1 and DS2 multiplayer weren't even the same really so DS3 being a console game people should understand if its also different. Also its not even in the demo so people are complaining about something they have only read about and haven't even experienced yet.

@ gueber

You've played it, why assume others haven't. Sacred 2 had multiplayer on consoles. FFXIV (though utter trash) is an MMO on consoles, them being on consoles isn't a good excuse for crap, shoehorned multiplayer.

In regards to action rpg, fine, it fits the bill in a loosely defined way; but not in the way the old games/ diablo series/ titan's quest/ torchlight were among others.

Loot dynamics are HORRID and the biggest problem I have with it. Gold items drop from specific chests or bought from vendors, and they're always better than the greens and blues. Theres no hunting for loot, theres no randomness -- its hand placed. Very bad for a game like this. Most of the fun was killing stuff and waiting for the RNG gods to favour you with a zod rune. That means nothing if you already have the best crap on.

Story is subjective, so I won't argue with you're opinion; but I've played tons of rpgs and this games story is nothing worth praise imo, certainly not EPIC or DEEP. Haven't seen the end yet so who knows, might pull a sixths sense. The story is very typical fantasy, I'm guessing your new to rpg's or fantasy settings in general.

What I will say though is that presentation and atmosphere are serverely lacking. The game has no soul; you can feel the lack of effort in everything, from the way that the terms power/focus are used interchangably and confusingly in the talents, the tinny voice acting, the unanimated talking heads that your FORCED to converse with constantly, constantly reused assets (the girl with the dead husband is the same model as the chick with the towel on her head in stonebridge; EXACT same. THERE ARE SO FEW NPC's TO BEGIN WITH) to the corridor level design (Like, FFXIII corridors).

You can sum this game up in 3 words:

Lazy cash grab
