What's the reasoning behind this? I can just download it off ijji, but I'd much prefer it on steam.
There's no logic in this...

I don't know why'd you want to play. The servers are in New york, Germany and California. You'll be lucky to have a 200 ping.

Does it honestly matter? What's confusing that it's available through ijji directly, but not on steam. That's like saying "sorry, this brand of soft drink isn't available at this store, but it's available down the road."
I'm still trying to track down the reasoning behind this and if there are any plans to release it in Australia.

Note how I said lucky? Most Aussies are in the 300-400 range. It's just not fun for the majority of them. Even if you're not teleporting all over the place your shots will register much later than your opponents in most cases.

I was able to play AVA fine on IJJI on Californian servers. I live in West Australia (the furthest from the US servers in the whole of Aus) and see no reason why we're not allowed to play, especially if we can play on IJJI(which is a horrible program)...
If there's people trying to play from mobile internet and dial-up, that's their fault, just give them a warning message if they're from Aus, not a complete block...

The closest any point in Australia is to California is appx 11,000 miles. You'd have to have mindblowlingly good internet to get even a passable ping over that distance. I'm on a twelve mbit connection and I get a 90ish ping on west living on the east coast of the US. That's appx a 3000 mile distance. You're talking a distance almost 4 times that. And even if you thought it was playable, there's a very good chance that on your opponents screen that you were warping corners consistently.

208 ping on West Coast. I couldn't feel any lagg what-so-ever, though when my internet was being dodgy on rainy days (250+ ping), then AVA started to lagg. I also play Crossfire and other FPS games hosted in US and 220+ seems to be the average point where you notice lagg.
EDIT: My internet is constant, I.E. it stays at either 208 or 209 and doesn't go higher while playing. Teleporting is usually caused from a jump in ping (the higher the amount, the more noticeable the teleport). Therefor someone who has a minimum ping of 50, but has ping constantly changing to 150 will be more laggy than someone with constant 240 ping.

It isn't here in Australia, and my best ping when I was in a American server I think was 170 lol

If you are going to promote a free to play game with an untradable high-quality item at least make ABSOLUTELY sure that the item can be obtained by 100% of the TF2 playerbase!

Its because our government has these ♥♥♥♥♥es and bans games because of their gore. WTF you should see all the violence in GoW and Bioshock. Why not L4D2 which doesnt use the best graphics
