Correction.. you still need to make an account with Perfect World but once you access the in-game store it will bind to your steam account.

So seeing as how the instructions are so incredibly clear on how to get this turtle I will help.

1 Open game and log in to your character
2 Press on the leaf icon in the top right
3 press on the "charge" button in the bottom of the window
4 link your perfect world and steam accounts (you need not buy anything)
5 wait a few minutes
6 check your mail in the system messages (an icon will appear near the minimap to alert you of mail)
7 enjoy!

Following perfidious instructions with the non steam client (or maybe somehow the account creation through steam is different?) of forsaken world doesnt seem to work. I see no option to link my steam account to my perfect world account.

if you're running the steam version of the game, when you go to the shop (leaf icon) then click recharge, it opens the steam overlay to a web page at perfect world. This gives you the opportunity to link the accounts together.

This F2P Steam promotion sure is off to a bad start. Spiral Knights not working with some of the most widely used versions of routers (WRT54G) and now this game can't redeem an in-game pet. Can't wait for tomorrow haha.

I linked my accounts before creating a character (there was a Charge button on the main menu), then created a character and got no mail at all, it's been two hours and I got my first legit pet already. This promotion was managed terribly. I made sure that my accounts were linked just now and they are.

Considering there's no way to unlink and relink accounts I'm pretty much stuck having spent time on this game and not reaping the benefits of the promotion for it. It's pretty disappointing.

You don't have to buy anything. However, this method doesn't always work.

On the main title screen you can see a "register" button. If you use it through the Steam install it shows you a somewhat different site than if you click register elsewhere (like say off the updater/launcher).

It appears it doesn't always work if you didn't register the game through Steam. If you already had an account and linked it in steam, it appears it doesn't work, or atleast doesn't always work.

Just what I said up above. Basically I:
Loaded FW.
Clicked the server I wanted.
clicked Register (and followed the registration including the email confirmation).
Logged in.
Made one of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vampire things.
Clicked on the Leaf.
Looked at the buy leaves page for a few seconds.
Went to the mailbox and found my Dudu.

No just means now you gotta waste time making a new dummy account with which you can get the pet, farm up enough money to mail it and then mail it to your character on the account you want.

Or make a new account and stick with that one.

I think there's an actual mailbox? I'm not 100 percent on that though

at the bottom right of the screen, click on the enlarge map button
you will see a little mail icon, click on that and your character will run to the mailbox

That Sucks.. there needs to be a better way, what of us that already have a Perfect World Account, and have not played Forsaken World?
We played your 'other' games, even gave you cash through them, but becasue we already have a PW account and want to keep all the PW games under the one account we dont get the option for a turtle even though we may be trying FW for the first time through steam? ..

I installed FW via Steam. When I got to the Username/Password, the create Passport button didn't link. I tried that twice. Then I went to the FW website to create my User/Pass, re-entered through Steam, and started to play. I took a couple of characters to level 10, but I have no mail and no pet. If I had to register via Steam ONLY, it wasn't clear, or working for me.

How about you pop a pet into everyone's backpack that started to play today?

Stop avoiding us. We have repeatedly said that we did it according to these insrtuctions and STILL HAVE NO PET.

Either correct it with a patch, or give everyone who played today with a linked steam account the turtle!

Had a perfectworld account quite a long time ago, but only started using it since FW came to Steam. I've charged the zen and linked it to my Steam account.. but still no sign of the Dudu.

I've almost got it to work..
Created a NEW perfectworld account in Steam the overlay.
Created a NEW character, checked the mail box and got the Dudu turtle!

So.. now I need to level up this NEW character (which I have NO intention of playing) so that I have enough soul coins to send a bloody mail.
I can't even get my original character to mail soul coins to the new one? What.

I've spent hours and hours trying to get this item. gg.

The Mailbox Time Lock is possibly the most infuriating thing I have ever encountered. Yes I have the patience of a 5 year old.

But still if you have a PW account and link it while in game using the Steam overlay, it doesn't work.

So you ahve to waste time, create a new account while in game using the Steam overlay, level that to be able to send the damn turtle to your old account.

I think the easiest way is to check for linked Steam accounts to pre-Steam PW accounts and give them the turtle.

Not that I care as the game is ok but not sure I will play it long enough as I haven't found a MMORPG that ahs kept my attention long enough.

They lost custom of me now. This is very poor service and they need to do a u-turn pretty damn quick. (fixing the issue) Spiral Knights went straight up to the most popular title F2P title on Steam because of the day event. Forsaken World only gone up to 4. (out of 5) But then again it is just a clone of every single other MMORPG. Heh.

I bet alot of people forgot to click charge, which links the account in oder to pay tru steam.

Same, it was frustrating yesterday, and I had to eventually enter the code to do it, but success! and I am left with a positive feeling about FW.
