Big Crunch Bug

Well, sort of.
Playing as a black hole, just as I got large enough for the universe to collapse (the stars started drawing into the black hole, opposite of the game start), a larger black hole eats me.

I still got the achievement, but when you look at it, shouldn't that black hole have destroyed the universe, if it was large enough to eat one that was attempting to do so?

There is a big crunch if the black hole is massive enough. We could consider three black holes as well, with unity being the mass to achieve to crunch everything:

Let epsilon be such that 0<epsilon<1/6.
Blackhole A is 1/3, blackhole B is 1/2+epsilon, blackhole C is 2/3
C can eat A or B, then there is a big crunch.
Still, B can eat A, then there is a big crunch. B+A (2/3+epsilon) can even eat C.


In your case, your blackhole is C+A. So the universe collapses. However, while the universe collapses, the black hole B happens to eat another kind of blackhole A, and finally eats yours. You started the collapse, and a bigger blackhole appeared during the collapse.

I think what the OP means is that if he gets his black hole big enough to start a big crunch, but there's already an even bigger black hole out there, then that other black hole should have been big enough to start a big crunch instead.

Not a bug. Unless the game freezes or doesn't respawn you properly (like it did at one stage), then THAT'S a bug. It's just a consequence of that random sandbox universe, sometimes things spawn in the wrong place at the wrong time to mess up a cutscene!

Gotta love it, one way or another. x) I'm just happy sometimes before I'm eaten by a bigger black hole, they sling me past them, on the path to freedom, to eat more black holes and see another day. x)

This has happened to me, but I never considered it a bug. I considered it just how it goes sometimes. After all, when you're one of the last major chunks of mass left, you can't always win can you?

That moment is probably one of the most intense for the game because you realize you're so close but could lose it any second. Definitely keep! :D
